The Miami Marlins lost to the New York Mets 7-3 at Citi Field on Friday night. The Marlins continued their five-game road trip.
In the first inning, the Mets leaped out to a 1-0 lead. J.D. Martinez knocked in Brandon Nimmo with a single into left field.
Miami(45-77) took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth. Derek Hill to right field which scored Jonah Bride. Two batters later, Emmanuel Rivera grounded into to force out and Hill reached home.
New York(63-59) scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth and led 7-1. Jeff McNeil cracked a solo homer to right field with Francisco Alvarez aboard. It turned out to be McNeil's 12tth home run of the year. Francisco Lindor later tripled into the right-field corner to score Harrison Bader. Two batters later, Nimmo lifted a three-run homer on the first pitch to right field for his 17th homer. Lindor and Mark Vientos scored in front of him on the play.
The Fish garnered one run in the top of the fifth and trailed 7-3. Jake Burger walloped a solo home run to left-center field for his 24th home run of the season.
