Both teams exchanged field goals early in the second quarter. Washington closed it to 10-6 with 19 seconds remaining in the first half on a 38-yard field goal by Riley Patterson.
The Dolphins would pick up the only points throughout the entire second half. The Fins made it 13-6 when Jason Sanders booted a 33-yard field goal at the 10:02 mark of the third quarter.
The Commanders had one final opportunity to even it up in the final seven seconds of the fourth. A pass on a slant pattern to the wide receiver was not caught and Washington turned the ball over on downs.
