Marlins Trade Jesus Sanchez
Thursday was the Major League Baseball trade deadline. The Miami Marlins made one trade as they dealt outfielder Jesus Sanchez to the Houston Astros.
Zack Moss Released By Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals have released running back Zack Moss. He had 74 carries for 242 rushing yards and two touchdowns last season with the Bengals.
Moss played high school football with the Hallandale Chargers. He then attended the University of Utah for college football.

Nate Noel Waived By Dolphins
Former Dade County high school football player Nate Noel has been placed on waivers. He joined the team back in May.
Noel played running back with the Miami Northwestern Bulls when they won three straight FHSAA state titles in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He moved on to Appalachian State and Missouri for college football.
Marlins Float Cardinals
The Miami Marlins handled the St. Louis Cardinals 2-0 at Busch Stadium on Wednesday night. Miami is 9-1-1 in their last 11 series. The Marlins completed a six-game road swing with a 4-2 record and will host the New York Yankees on Friday.
Miami(52-55) got the only runs of the game during the top of the third against St. Louis(55-55). Jesus Sanchez blasted a two-run homer to center field on the a 1-0 pitch with Xavier Edwards aboard. It was the 10th home run for Sanchez this season.
Markus Nutivaara Back In Hockey
Former Florida Panthers defenseman Markus Nutivaara has returned to play in professional hockey after a two-year absence. He has inked a one-year deal with Karpat in Finland.
Nutivaara played two seasons with Florida in 2020-21 and 2021-22. He finished with 11 assists in 31 contests with the Panthers.

Bills Waive Daryl Porter Jr.
The Buffalo Bills have waived defensive back Daryl Porter, Jr. He signed with the club just several months ago.
Porter played high school football with the American Heritage Patriots. He later was with the University of West Virginia Mountaineers and the University of Miami Hurricanes in college football.
Peter Mueller Finishes Career
One-time Florida Panthers center Peter Mueller has retired from professional hockey. He spent the past 12 years participating in Europe.
Mueller completed his NHL career with the Panthers during the 2012-13 campaign. He compiled eight goals and nine assists for 17 points in 43 contests that season.
Marlins Knock Down Cardinals
The Miami Marlins beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-0 on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. The Marlins continued their six-game road trip.
It was the final start for Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara before the MLB trading deadline. Miami(51-55) scored two runs in the second, one run in the fifth and twice in the sixth against St. Louis(55-54)
Marlins Trade Nick Fortes
The Miami Marlins have traded catcher Nick Fortes to the Tampa Bay Rays. The club received back minor league outfielder Matthew Etzel.
Fortes was with the Marlins for the past five seasons from 2021 to 2025. He had a career .225 batting average, 25 home runs and 96 runs batted in with Miami.

Cardinals Handle Marlins
The St. Louis Cardinals pushed by the Miami Marlins 7-1 at Busch Stadium on Monday night. The Marlins have lost two straight games.
After getting one run in the third and fourth innings, St. Louis(55-53) piled on five more runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 7-0 lead. Miami(50-55) broke the shutout in the top of the ninth on a single through the right side by Heriberto Hernandez which scored Jesus Sanchez.
Scott Ferrall Exits SportsGrid
Former Miami sports talk radio host Scott Ferrall is no longer at SportsGrid. He worked there as an afternoon host and evening host from January 2020 until July 2025. Ferrall will continue as a podcast co-host on Prophetable.tv.
Ferrall was a late night sports host on nationally syndicated Westwood One from 1995 to 1999 and Sportsfan Radio Network from 2000 to April 2001. After a morning show stint at WNEW-FM in New York City, he was a mid-morning host on 560 WQAM-AM in 2003 and 2004.
He hosted an evening program on the Howard Stern channel at SiriusXM Radio from 2006 to December 2012. Ferrall was at CBS Sports Radio Network from January 2013 to January 2020.

Brewers Escape Marlins
The Milwaukee Brewers pulled off a late comeback over the Miami Marlins 3-2 at American Family Field on Sunday. The Brewers avoided a three-game sweep to the Marlins.
Miami(50-54) led 1-0 in the first inning and took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth on a Heriberto Hernandez home run. Milwaukee(62-43) evened it up 2-2 in the eighth and got a walk-off win 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth.
Tristan Gray Dealt To Rays
Tristan Gray was traded by the Chicago White Sox to the Tampa Bay Rays. It will be his second stint with the Rays.
Gray participated in seven games last season with the Miami Marlins. He went hitless in seven plate appearances with the Fish.
Ichiro Inducted Into Baseball Hall Of Fame
Former Miami Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York on Sunday. C.C Sabathia, Billy Wagner, Dave Parker and Dick Allen were also inducted.
Ichiro broke into the majors with the Seattle Mariners in 2001. He captured the American League Most Valuable Player Award and Rookie of the Year Award that season.
He later played for the Miami Marlins for three seasons from 2015 to 2017. Ichiro got his 3,000th hit with a triple during a road game at the Colorado Rockies.

Inter Miami CF Ties FC Cincinnati
Inter Miami CF tied FC Cincinnati 0-0 at Chase Stadium on Saturday night. The Herons played just their second home game in Fort Lauderdale since June 1.
Both teams are contending for playoff spots. FC Cincinnati(15-6-4) is second in the Eastern Conference while Inter Miami CF(12-4-6) is in fifth place.
Marlins Win Series Over Brewers
The Miami Marlins defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 7-4 on Saturday at American Family Field. The Marlins now are 8-1-1 in their last 10 series.

Raiders Drop Christian Wilkins
The Las Vegas Raiders have released defensive lineman Christian Wilkins. He participated in five contests and had two sacks last season with the Raiders.
Wilkins played five seasons with the Miami Dolphins from 2019 until 2023. He finished with 20.5 sacks in 81 games with the Fins.
Marlins Speed By Brewers
The Miami Marlins raced by the Milwaukee Brewers 5-1 at American Family Field on Friday. The Marlins have won seven of their last nine contests. The Brewers entered the contest with the best record in Major League Baseball.
Miami(49-53) wore their 1990s Florida teal baseball cap honoring the Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend. Milwaukee(61-42) wore their 1970s royal blue baseball cap with a large yellow M in the front of the crown.

Hulk Hogan Dead
Hulk Hogan passed away today in Clearwater, Florida at the age of 71. He was the most famous professional wrestler and an American pop-culture icon during the 1980s and the 1990s.
Hogan made his pro wrestling debut with Championship Wrestling from Florida one day before his 24th birthday on August 10, 1977 in Fort Myers. He made only one other CWF appearance in South Florida at the National Guard Armory in Fort Lauderdale on October 28, 1977.
He would not wrestle again in the South Florida region for 12 years. Hogan was not sent here by the World Wrestling Federation during the mid-1980s because there was no large-capacity South Florida venue compared to other arenas in the United States.
The biggest WWF moment for Hogan in South Florida was when he won the 1991 Royal Rumble at Miami Arena in Miami. It led to him recapturing the WWF Championship several months later at Wrestlemania 7 in Los Angeles over Sgt. Slaughter
Hogan joined World Championship Wrestling in June 1994 and immediately became WCW Champion. His biggest WCW match in South Florida was at the Knight Center in September 1995. It was the first singles match ever between him and Lex Luger. It was also the second broadcast of the new weekly television show WCW Monday Nitro. The match ended up being a no-contest due to outside interference by the Dungeon of Doom.
Zach Pop Joins Cubs
Former Miami Marlins pitcher Zach Pop has inked a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs. He was with the Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners and New York Mets earlier this year.
Pop was once with the Miami Marlins for two seasons in 2021 and 2022. He had a 3-0 record with a 3.98 earned run average in 68 relief appearances while in Miami.

John Ludvig In Czechia
One-time Florida Panthers prospect John Ludvig has left the National Hockey League. He has signed a three-year contract with HC Dynamo Pardubice in the Czech Extraliga.
Ludvig was selected by the Panthers in the third round of the 2019 NHL Draft. He never played in one NHL game with Florida. Ludvig participated in 41 NHL contests with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Colorado Avalanche over the past two seasons.
Phillip Dorsett Off To Raiders
Former Broward County high school football player Phillip Dorsett has signed a contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. He did participate in an NFL contest during the 2024 season.
Dorsett played high school football with the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders. He won three FHSAA state championships in 2007, 2008 and 2010.
Jimmy Graham Retires
Jimmy Graham has retired from the National Football League. He played one season of college football and four seasons of college basketball with the University of Miami Hurricanes.
Graham is best known for his tenure with the New Orleans Saints. He was with them from 2010 until 2014.
Marlins Ease By Padres
The Miami Marlins edged the San Diego Padres 3-2 on Wednesday at loanDepot park. The Marlins concluded their six-game homestand with a 4-2 record.
Miami(48-53) sprinted out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Augustin Ramirez drove in Xavier Edwards with a base hit into center field.
San Diego(55-47) evened it up 1-1 in the top of the fourth. Manny Machado singled to left field and Luis Arraez crossed the plate.
The Marlins reclaimed the lead 3-1 during the fifth inning. Jesus Sanchez socked a two-run homer to right field on a 3-2 pitch with Javier Sanoja aboard.

T.J. Brennan Staying In Europe
Former Florida Panthers defenseman T.J. Brennan will be remaining in Europe. He had inked a deal with HK Olimpija Ljubljana in the ICEHL.
Brennan played one season with Florida in 2012-13. He finished with two goals and seven assists for nine points in 19 games with the Panthers.
Jhonny Pereda Claimed By Twins
Jhonny Pereda has been claimed by the Minnesota Twins. He participated in 17 contests with the Athletics this season.
Pereda made his MLB debut and played with the Miami Marlins in 2024. He had three runs batted in and a .175 batting average in 17 games with the Fish.
Team Canada Adds Pete DeBoer
Team Canada has added Pete DeBoer as an assistant coach for the 2026 Winter Olympics. He was let go as head coach of the Dallas Stars last month.
DeBoer was the Florida Panthers head coach for three seasons from 2008-09 to 2010-11. He had a 103-107-36 record with the club.
Marlins Stop Padres
The Miami Marlins topped the San Diego Padres 4-3 at loanDepot park on Tuesday night. The Marlins have a 3-2 record since the MLB All-Star Game break.
Miami(47-53) powered in two runs in the bottom of the first for a 2-0 advantage. Kyle Stowers finished the rally with a double into the right-center field gap and Augustin Ramirez crossed the plate.
San Diego(55-46) cut it to 2-1 in the top of the third. Former Marlins player Luis Arraez singled into right field to score Martin Maldonado.
Javier Sanoja capped the eighth inning for the Fish to give them a 4-1 lead. He got an RBI-triple to left-center field which scored Heriberto Hernandez.
The Padres almost pulled off a comeback in the top of the ninth. Jackson Merrill knocked in Gavin Sheets and Xander Bogaerts with a double off the right-field wall.

Phillies Sign David Robertson
The Philadelphia Phillies have signed relief pitcher David Robertson to a one-year deal. It is his third stint with that club.
Robertson was acquired by the Miami Marlins during the 2023 campaign and contributed to them reaching the postseason in a 162-game regular season for the first time in 20 years. He made 22 relief appearances.
Padres Edge Marlins
The San Diego Padres got by the Miami Marlins 2-1 at loanDepot park on Monday night. The Marlins continued their six-game homestand.
San Diego(55-45) collected two runs during the top of the second. Jackson Merrill had an RBI-single followed by an RBI-double from Martin Maldonado. Miami(46-53) closed it to 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth on the 22nd home run of the season by Kyle Stowers.

Marlins Can't Sweep Royals
The Kansas City Royals scattered the Miami Marlins with a 7-4 victory at loanDepot park on Sunday. The Marlins host the San Diego Padres tomorrow.
Kansas City(48-52) composed three runs each in the third and fourth innings. Miami(46-52) gave up another run during the top of the eighth. The Marlins chalked up four runs in the bottom of the ninth to avoid a shutout.

Gerard Gallant Heads To KHL
Former Florida Panthers head coach Gerard Gallant is off to the Kontinental Hockey League. He has been named the new head coach of the Kunlun Red Stars.
Gallant guided the Panthers as head coach for three seasons from 2014-15 until 2016-17 with a 96-65-25 record. His team captured the Atlantic Division title in 2015-16.
He became the first head coach in Vegas Golden Knights franchise history. Gallant led them to the Western Conference title in 2017-18 during their first season. He later coached the New York Rangers for two seasons in 2021-22 and 2022-23.
Chase Priskie Goes Overseas
South Florida native Chase Priskie is leaving hockey in North America. He has signed a one-year deal with Sibir Novosibrisk of the Kontinential Hockey League.
The only time Priskie appeared in the National Hockey League was with the Florida Panthers during the 2021-22 season. He played in four games and had no points.
Marlins Outslug Royals
The Miami Marlins outlasted the Kansas City Royals 8-7 in 10 innings at loanDepot park on Friday night. It was the first contest for the Marlins and the Royals since the MLB All-Star Game break.
Miami(45-51) rambled out to a 5-0 lead by the end of the third inning. Kansas City(47-51) scored four runs in the top of the fourth and tied it up 5-5 in the top of the ninth.
In extra innings, the Royals put up two runs in the top of the frame. The Marlins answered back in the bottom of the 10th with three runs and finished the game on a walk-off, two-run homer by Kyle Stowers.

Joe Thornton And Sharks Reunite
Recently-elected Hockey Hall of Fame center Joe Thornton has rejoined the San Jose Sharks organization. He has been named a hockey operations advisor and player development coach.
Thornton played one season with the Florida Panthers in 2021-22. He contributed to them capturing the Atlantic Division title and the Presidents' Trophy for best regular season record. Thornton had five goals and five assists for 10 points in 34 contests with the Panthers.
Panthers Re-Sign Tobias Bjornfot
The Florida Panthers have re-signed defenseman Tobias Bjornfot. It is a one-year contract that is worth $775,000.
Bjornfot has been in the Panthers organization since March 2024. He finished with no points in 14 games with the parent club in 2024-25.
West Palm Beach Ratings June 2025
The West Palm Beach ratings for sports talk radio stations were issued. The time span went from the last week in May to the last week in June.
There is a new sports talk radio leader in the West Palm Beach market. Sports Radio 1230 The Gambler WBZT-AM finished in first place ahead of Fox Sports 640 South Florida WMEN-AM for the first time ever in the monthly ratings. WBZT-AM flipped to a sports format back in July 2017. WMEN-AM has not finished in second place based on the ratings since late 2011.
Sports Radio 1230 The Gambler WBZT-AM increased from a 0.2 to a 0.3 in the period. The Florida Panthers captured their second straight Stanley Cup, even though the Stanley Cup Final games were switched over to sister-station Real Radio 92.3 WZZR-FM. The Miami Marlins climbed out of the basement in the National League East Division. The radio station has aired VSIN constantly on weekdays and weekends.
Fox Sports 640 South Florida WMEN-AM dropped to a 0.2 following three months at at 0.3. They piped in nationally syndicated Fox Sports Radio for 22 hours during weekdays and had Andy Slater in mid-afternoons for the other two hours. The radio had no game broadcasts during the month.

Florida Panthers 2025-26 Schedule
The National Hockey League released the 2025-26 regular season schedules for all 32 NHL clubs. The reigning two-time Stanley Cup champions the Florida Panthers will attempt to become the first NHL team in more than 40 years to win three straight Stanley Cup titles.
The Panthers will have their season opener at home in Sunrise against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 7. Florida will raise their 2024-25 Stanley Cup championship banner to the rafters prior to the contest.
The Cats will play in the annual NHL Winter Classic game on January 2. They will host the New York Rangers at the Miami Marlins stadium loanDepot park in Miami. It was once the grounds of the Orange Bowl venue. It will be the first time in Florida Panthers franchise history that they will participate in an outdoor game.
Florida will play one game at home and one game on the road against all 16 Western Conference teams. They will host their Stanley Cup Final rivals over the past two seasons, the Edmonton Oilers, on November 22.
The Panthers will play all Metropolitan Division teams three times each. The Cats will be home twice against the New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals and Columbus Blue Jackets. They will be home once versus the New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, Carolina Hurricanes and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Florida will face the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators, Detroit Red Wings and Buffalo Sabres four times in 2025-26 with two home games and two road games. The Cats have three contests against the Boston Bruins with two games at home and one game away. Florida will visit the Montreal Canadiens twice and host them once.
It will be the final season that the Panthers will play an unbalanced schedule against two division foes. The 2026-27 campaign will increase to 84 regular season games. Florida will face all Atlantic Division clubs four times with two contests at home and two contests on the road.
Marlins Trade For Michael Petersen
The Miami Marlins have acquired relief pitcher Michael Petersen from the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations. He made four relief appearance with the Braves this season and had a 4.05 earned run average.
It will be Petersen's second stint with Miami. He had a 0-1 record and a 4.76 earned run average in 2024 with the Marlins.
FC Cincinnati Wallops Inter Miami CF
FC Cincinnati smashed Inter Miami CF 3-0 at TQL Stadium on Wednesday night. The Herons had their Major League Soccer five-game winning streak and six-game unbeaten streak snapped.
In the first half, Inter Miami CF(11-4-5) found themselves down 1-0. Gerardo Valenzuela gave FC Cincinnati(14-6-3) a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute.
FC Cincy extended their lead to 3-0 and put the contest away. Evander was able to score during the 50th minute and the 70th minute. He set a franchise record scoring in his fifth straight game.
Chris Pronger Joins St. Louis Blues Telecasts
Chris Pronger has been named as a studio analyst of St. Louis Blues game broadcasts on FanDuel Sports Network Midwest. He filled-in as a guest studio analyst for several Blues regular season games during the 2024-25 campaign. Pronger also worked at ESPN as an NHL studio analyst back in May.
Pronger once was involved in the hockey operations department of the Florida Panthers. He joined as a senior advisor to the president of hockey operations in June 2017. Pronger was later elevated to senior vice president of hockey operations and eventually left the organization in July 2020.

Miami Ratings June 2025
The Miami/Fort Lauderdale ratings for sports talk radio stations were released. The time span went from the final week of May to the the final week of June.
AM 560 Sports WQAM-AM rose from a 0.8 to a 0.9 in the month. The Florida Panthers captured their second Stanley Cup title in franchise history. They defeated the Edmonton Oilers in the 2025 Stanley Cup Final in six games.
Fox Sports 940 WINZ-AM remained at a 0.4 for the second straight period. The Miami Marlins were battling for fourth place in the National League East Division.
Fox Sports 640 South Florida WMEN-AM stayed at a 0.1 for the third consecutive month. They had no game broadcasts and relied on syndicated Fox Sports Radio.
WZTU-FM-HD2 had the WINZ stream drop from a 0.3 to a 0.2. The WQAM stream remained at a 0.0 for the fifth straight time.
2025 MLB All-Star Game
The National League defeated the American League 7-6 in the 2025 Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Truist Park in Atlanta on Tuesday night. It was the 95th edition of the Midsummer Classic and the first held in Atlanta since 2000.
The National League was victorious in MLB All-Star Game for the second time in the last three years. The American League had won 10 of the past 11 contests entering tonight.
The game was tied 6-6 at the end of nine innings. The contest would be decided for first time ever in a home run derby swing-off tiebreaker.
Brent Rooker of the Athletics started off with two homers for the American League. Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers responded for the National League with one home run and they were down 2-1 after one round.
Randy Arozarena of the Seattle Mariners picked up one home run to give the A.L. a 3-1 advantage. Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies answered back with three home runs on three swinging attempts and the N.L. led 4-3.
The National League clinched the win when Jonathan Aranda of the Tampa Bay Rays and the American League failed to hit a home run during the third round. Pete Alonso of the New York Mets was not needed to bat in the third round for the National League.

Joy Taylor Gone From Fox Sports 1
One-time Miami radio personality Joy Taylor is no longer with Fox Sports 1. She will also stop co-hosting a Saturday afternoon show on Fox Sports Radio.
Taylor, a Barry University 2009 grad, began her professional broadcasting career with Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM as a producer. She later was an on-air sidekick, sports anchor and a weekend host at that radio station.
She moved on to Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM as an morning show sidekick and sports anchor. Taylor was eventually promoted to morning co-host in January 2014 and held that role until February 2016.
Taylor joined Fox Sports Radio as a Saturday early afternoon co-host in March 2016. She added duties at Fox Sports 1 as a moderator of Undisputed with Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe in September 2016. Taylor was then promoted in June 2018 to sports anchor and on-air sidekick on The Herd With Colin Cowherd, which was simulcast on Fox Sports Radio and Fox Sports 1.
She was elevated to afternoon studio co-host of Speak For Yourself in September 2022. The name of the program would be changed to Speak.
Allison Williams NFL Sideline Reporter
Fox Sports announced former South Florida television sportscaster Allison Williams will become an NFL sideline reporter. She joined Fox Sports as a college football sideline reporter in August 2022.
Williams, a University of Miami 2006 grad, worked at Fox Sports Net Florida from 2008 until October 2013. She began as a reporter on Miccosukee Sports Wrap. Williams was shifted to Florida Marlins game broadcasts as a sideline reporter and rinkside reporter on Florida Panthers telecasts. She was elevated to the Florida Panthers studio host position prior to the 2011-12 NHL season. She left Fox Sports Net Florida in October 2013 to become a full-time employee at ESPN.
Bruce Logan Back In Houston
Former South Florida radio executive Bruce Logan has returned to Houston. He has been named the new vice president of programming and operations at Audacy Houston. Logan also becomes brand manager at KILT-FM and KKHH-FM.
Logan began at Hubbard Radio in West Palm Beach as the operations manager at WIRK-FM and WEAT-FM in June 2019. He added the same duties in December 2019 at WMEN-AM, WFTL-AM, WRMF-FM and WMBX-FM. Logan exited Hubbard Radio back in April.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. In Home Run Derby
New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. participated in the 2025 Home Run Derby at Truist Park in Atlanta on Monday night. He was eliminated during the annual event in the opening round with just an event-low three home runs.
Chisholm once played with the Miami Marlins from 2020 to 2024 and led them to two postseason appearances in 2020 and 2023. He was traded by the Marlins to the Yankees on July 27, 2024.

Miami Marlins 2025 MLB Draft
The 2025 Major League Baseball Draft was held in Atlanta on Sunday night. The first three rounds of draft selections were announced.
The Marlins selected Oregon State shortstop Avia Arquette with the seventh overall pick in the first round. Miami had two second-round picks. The Fish took Clemson outfielder Cam Cannarella at 43rd overall and Arizona State outfielder Brandon Compton at 46th overall.

Former Miami Marlins pitcher Mark Buehrle had a statue of him unveiled outside of Rate Field in Chicago on Friday. The Chicago White Sox were celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 2005 World Series championship this weekend.
Buehrle had a short one-season stint with Miami in 2012. He finished with a 13-13 record and a 3.74 earned run average with the Marlins that year.
Marlins Pound Orioles
The Miami Marlins dominated the Baltimore Orioles 11-1 from Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Sunday. The Marlins concluded their seven-game road swing. Both clubs will now take time off due to the MLB All-Star Game break.
Miami(44-51) was led by outfielder Kyle Stowers. He burned his former team Baltimore(43-52) hitting three home runs in one game.

Ndamukong Suh Retires
Former Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh has announced his retirement. He has not participated in an NFL game since 2022.
Suh once played with the Dolphins for three seasons from 2015 to 2017. He helped the Fins reach the postseason in 2016 following an eight-year playoff drought.
Inter Miami CF Dispose Nashville SC
Inter Miami CF held off Nashville SC 2-1 at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. It was the first time the Herons played a home contest since May 31. They are in a five-game stretch where this was their only home game.
Lionel Messi gave Inter Miami CF(11-3-5) a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. He fired a 23-yard shot on a direct kick with his left leg into the low left corner of the cage.
In the second half, Nashville SC(12-5-5) tied it up 1-1. They made a crossing pass from the right side and Hany Mukhtar scored on a header from 10 yards in the 49th minute.
Messi collected his second goal of the contest during the 62nd minute and the Herons reclaimed the lead 2-1. He intercepted an outlet pass by the Nashville goalkeeper at the edge of the penalty area. Messi dribbled to the middle of the field and placed in a left-footed shot from 12 yards away. It was the second straight game that Messi had two goals. He has scored all four Inter Miami CF goals in the past two games.
Marlins Blank Orioles
The Miami Marlins shut out the Baltimore Orioles 6-0 on Saturday at Camden Yards. The Marlins will finish their seven-game road trip tomorrow.
Miami(43-51) broke the scoreless tie in the seventh inning with one run and led 1-0. The Fish added another run in the top of the eighth for a two-run margin. Baltimore(43-51) gave up four more runs in the ninth inning and trailed 6-0.

Zach Pop Leaves Mets
One-time Miami Marlins pitcher Zach Pop has exited the New York Mets. He is now an unrestricted free agent after refusing designation.
He began the 2025 campaign with the Seattle Mariners. He had a 0-1 record and a 20.25 earned run average in his only pitching appearance with the Mets on July 6.
Dodgers Claim Nick Nastrini
Nick Nastrini has been claimed off waivers from the Miami Marlins. He was designated for assignment earlier this week.
The Marlins picked him from the Chicago White Sox off waivers last week. He did not pitch in the majors with Miami.
Orioles Fly By Marlins
The Miami Marlins were stopped by the Baltimore Orioles 5-2 from Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Friday night. The Marlins made their first visit to Baltimore in two years. The Fish have lost three straight games.
Baltimore(43-50) compiled two runs in the bottom of the first and two runs during the bottom of the third for a 4-0 advantage. Miami(42-51) managed two runs in the top of the ninth and avoided the shutout. The Marlins scored for the first time in 18 innings.

Panthers Ink Mackie Samoskevich
Restricted free agent right wing Mackie Samoskevich has re-signed with the team. It is a one-year contract worth $775,000.
Samoskevich had 15 goals and 16 assists for 31 points in 72 contests with Florida during the 2024-25 regular season. He had one assist in four postseason games as the Panthers captured the Stanley Cup last month.
Reds Shut Out Marlins
The Cincinnati Reds blanked the Miami Marlins 6-0 on Thursday at Great American Ball Park. Both teams split the four-game series.
Cincinnati(48-46) scored one run in the first and one run in the second for a 2-0 lead. Miami(42-50) surrendered four runs during the bottom of the sixth and they were down 6-0.

Marlins Claim Tyler Zuber
The Miami Marlins have claimed pitcher Tyler Zuber from the New York Mets. He made one relief appearance of two innings with the Mets this season and had a 9.00 earned run average.
Kelly Olynyk Traded Again
Former Miami Heat player Kelly Olynyk was traded by the Washington Wizards to the San Antonio Spurs. He was dealt to the Wizards from the New Orleans Pelicans two days ago.
Olynyk was with the Heat for four seasons from 2017-18 to 2020-21. He was part of the team when they captured the 2020 Eastern Conference championship.
Inter Miami CF Kick New England Revolution
Inter Miami CF knocked off the New England Revolution 2-1 at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday night. The Herons are in a middle of a five-game stretch playing four road MLS contests. They will play at home in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday for the first time since May 31.
The first half would be controlled by Inter Miami CF(10-3-5). Lionel Messi placed in a half-volley shot from 12 yards out with his left foot in the 27th minute. He later rifled a left-footed shot from 19 yards away in the 38th minute for a 2-0 lead.
New England(6-8-6) cut the deficit to 2-1 midway in the second half. Carles Gil blasted a 21-yard shot with his right foot during the 79th minute.
Reds March By Marlins
The Cincinnati Reds cruised by the Miami Marlins 7-2 at Great American Ball Park on Wednesday night. The Marlins and the Reds will conclude their four-game series tomorrow.
Cincinnati(47-46) rocketed out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first and extended it to 6-0 during the bottom of the fourth. Miami(42-49) got one run in the top of the eighth and trailed 6-1.

Jesse Puljujarvi Goes To Europe
Florida Panthers forward Jesse Puljujarvi is heading back to Europe. He signed a two-year deal with Geneve-Servette HC.
Puljujarvi joined the Panthers organization as a free agent in February. He played in five regular season games and had one goal.
New NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement
The National Hockey League's 32 owners and the National Hockey League Players Association have ratified a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. The new CBA will be implemented from the 2026-27 season to the 2029-30 campaign.
Both sides had an understanding to the parameters of an agreement before the 2025 NHL Draft in late June. The current Collective Bargaining Agreement was to expire in September 2026.
The number of regular season games will now increase from 82 to 84 starting in 2026-27. The NHL has used an 82-game slate since the 1995-96 season. It means that teams will face all clubs in their division four times.
Beginning with the 2026-27 league calendar, NHL players can re-sign with their current team to a maximum seven-year contract and a maximum six-year contract if the sign with another club. 2025-26 will be the final season where players can agree to eight-year contracts with their current team along with seven-year contracts with other franchises.
The NHL salary cap with see a 9% increase to the ceiling over the next couple of seasons. It is at $95.5 million for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign. The player payroll ceiling for NHL teams will be at $104 million in 2026-27 and $114 million in 2027-28.
All 32 NHL teams will now play just four preseason contests. NHL players involved in 100 games or more will be required to play in a minimum two preseason games.
Marlins Smoke Reds
The Miami Marlins bashed the Cincinnati Reds 12-1 on Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park. Both teams continued their four-game series.
Cincinnati(46-46) opened up the contest with a run in the bottom of the first and led 1-0. Miami(42-48) piled on seven runs during the top of the third for a 7-0 lead. The Marlins three more runs in the sixth inning for a nine-run margin.

Heat Trade Kevin Love
The Miami Heat have traded forward Kevin Love to the Utah Jazz in a three-way deal. The Heat received back guard Norman Powell from the Los Angeles Clippers.
Love was signed by Miami in the final stretch of the 2022-23 regular season. He contributed to the Heat winning the 2023 Eastern Conference championship.
Powell spent the last four seasons with the Clippers. He helped the Toronto Raptors capture an NBA title in 2019.
Zac Dalpe Finishes Career
Florida Panthers right wing Zac Dalpe announced his retirement from professional hockey. He was with the Panthers AHL affiliate the Charlotte Checkers for the past two seasons.
Dalpe played with Florida for two seasons in 2021-22 and 2022-23. He had two goals and two assists for four points in 14 regular season games in his final NHL season during 2022-23. Dalpe had one goal in 13 postseason contests and helped the club capture the 2023 Eastern Conference title. He did sign a two-year extension in March 2023 through the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
Marlins Burn Reds
The Miami Marlins passed by the Cincinnati Reds 5-1 at Great American Ball Park on Monday night. The Marlins began their final road trip before the MLB All-Star Game break.
Cincinnati(46-45) scored first in the bottom of the second for a 1-0 lead. Miami(41-48) bounced back with two runs in the fifth, two runs in the sixth and one run in the seventh for a 5-1 advantage.

Golden Knights Retain Cole Schwindt
The Vegas Golden Knights re-signed right wing Cole Schwindt to a one-year deal. He chalked up career highs with one goal and seven assists for eight points in 42 regular season games last season.
Schwindt broke into the NHL with the Florida Panthers during the 2021-22 campaign. He played in three games and had no points with the Cats.
Dan Straily Retires
Former Miami Marlins starting pitcher Dan Straily has retired from professional baseball. He last pitched in the majors back in 2019 with the Baltimore Orioles.
Straily spent two season with the Marlins in 2018 and 2019. He had a 15-15 record and a 4.20 earned run average while in Miami.
Kyle Stowers Makes National League All-Star Team
Major League Baseball announced the players who will participate in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game. It will be held on July 15 in Atlanta.
Outfielder Kyle Stowers was selected by the National League as the Miami Marlins only representative. He has 16 home runs, 46 runs batted in and a .283 batting average this season.
Brewers End Marlins
The Miami Marlins fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 at loanDepot park on Sunday. The Marlins had their series streak snapped at four.
Miami(40-48) had a 3-3 record during their recent homestand. The Marlins won 10 of their last 13 contests. The Fish will begin their next seven-game road trip at the Cincinnati Reds on Monday.

Inter Miami CF Routs CF Montreal
Inter Miami CF returned to Major League Soccer action with a 4-1 victory over CF Montreal at Stade Saputo on Saturday night. The Herons were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain in the 2025 Club World Cup back on Monday.
CF Montreal(3-13-5), who are last in the Eastern Conference standings, rushed out to a 1-0 advantage in the second minute of play. Lionel Messi turned the ball over in his own end on a square pass. Prince Owusu placed in a shot from 17 yards away with his left foot.
The Herons composed two goals later in first half to take a 2-1 lead. Tadeo Allende scored in the 33rd minute on a left-footed shot from 21 yards out to even it up 1-1. Messi made it 2-1 during the 40th minute for Inter Miami CF(9-3-5) when he dribbled through the right side and zipped in a 12-yard shot with his left foot.
In the second half, Telasco Segovia increased it to 3-1 with a tally during the 60th minute as he floated a right-footed shot from 20 yards. Messi capped it to 4-1 in the 62nd minute with his second goal of the contest. He started to dribble the ball up the middle from 50 yards away. He evaded four different CF Montreal defenders and eventually put in a left-footed shot from eight yards out.

Mets Pick Up Zach Pop
It did take that long for former Miami Marlins pitcher Zach Pop to find another team. The New York Mets have signed him to a major league contract.
Pop recently left the Seattle Mariners. He once played with the Marlins for two seasons in 2021 and 2022.

Panthers Add Jake Studnicka & Nolan Foote
The Florida Panthers continued to add more players to their organization's roster. They signed several players to one-year, two-way deals worth $775,000.
Jake Studnicka broke into the NHL as a center with the Boston Bruins and was with them for four seasons from 2019-20 to 2022-23. He did not play in the NHL during 2024-25.
Nolan Foote has spent his entire five-season NHL career with the New Jersey Devils. The left wing had six goals and three assists for nine points in 30 games during his time with the Devils.
MacKenzie Entwistle Stays With Panthers
The Florida Panthers have re-signed right wing MacKensie Entwistle to a two-year, two-way contract. It is for the NHL league minimum of $775,000 per season.
Entwistle was in the Panthers minor league system last season. He participated in just seven contests with the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL.
