The #9 Florida Atlantic University Owls shocked the #8 Memphis Tigers 66-65 in the East Region first round of the NCAA Tournament in Columbus, Ohio. It was the second appearance by FAU in the NCAA Tournament in school history and their first victory. The Owls will face #16 Fairleigh Dickinson University in the second round.
FAU started off with a 25-17 spurt in the first 13 minutes of the game. Memphis answered back with a 16-4 run and led 35-31 at halftime. The Owls had an 11-5 spurt to lead 64--63 with 59.5 seconds remaining in the second half. Nick Boyd made a running left-handed layup across the lane with 2.5 seconds left.
