The Charlotte Hornets held off the Miami Heat 115-110 on Saturday night at Spectrum Center. The loss by the Heat matches their worst record to begin a regular season since going 0-3 in 2007-08.
It was the Heat's first road game of the 2026-27 regular season. The Heat concluded their 2025-26 campaign in the same venue when they fell in the NBA Play-In Tournament to the Hornets.
Charlotte(2-1) began the contest with a 9-2 spurt. Miami(0-3) responded with 10 straight points to go up 12-9 at 7:36 of the first quarter. Both clubs were tied 31-31 at the end of the opening quarter.

In the second half, Charlotte piled on a 17-5 spurt to start the third quarter and they led 83-63 at the 7:19 mark. The Heat tried to close the deficit later in the frame and were down 85-70 with 3:57 remaining in the third. The Hornets responded with seven straight points which gave them a 22-point margin 92-70 with 2:57 left in the quarter. Miami found themselves down 96-75 heading into the final quarter.
Miami rocketed out with a 25-4 run at the beginning of the fourth quarter and tied it up 100-100 with 5:42 to go. Grayson Allen made a four-point play with 3:19 remaining and Charlotte moved ahead 108-104. Heat center Giannis Antetokounmpo fouled out with 1:57 left in the fourth. It was the 32nd time that he fouled out in a NBA game and the third time in the past four seasons.
The Heat were led by Davion Mitchell with 22 points and 10 assists for a double-double. Antetokounmpo chalked up 14 points and six rebounds. Bam Adebayo added 20 points and eight rebounds while Klay Thompson scored 14 points. Pelle Larsson came off the bench with 15 points and seven rebounds.
