Miami Ratings January 2014

The Miami/Fort Lauderdale region remained the same for the fifth consecutive month as 104.3 The Ticket WAXY-FM finished on top among all the local sports format radio stations. Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM narrowed the margin while 940 The Sports Animal WINZ-AM fell further behind.
104.3 The Ticket trended upward from a 1.2 to a 1.5 in January. Jonathan Zaslow maintained his ratings in the morning after the departure of Marc Hochman, Dan Le Batard continued to roll in afternoon drive on the social buzz being on ESPN Radio and Brian London, a.k.a. The Beast, has garnered an audience being the only local late night sports host in South Florida. The Miami Heat was also an additional ratings boom.
Sports Radio 560 plugged in a bunch of new shows during the daytime in January and went up from a 0.7 to a 1.0 to begin 2014. They put together Alex Donno and Brandon Guzio for middays, reunited Adam Kuperstein with Channing Crowder in early afternoons and added The Sports Brothers on a temporary basis in afternoon drive until Hochman begins there in early April. Morning host Joe Rose still remains their stronghold in the schedule.
940 The Sports Animal saw a slight dip in their ratings during January as they went from a 0.4 to a 0.3 for several reasons. Their main property the Miami Dolphins had ended their season, the audience needed to get use to the new mid-afternoon program with Andy Slater and the announcement that Jesse Agler was going to depart the station at the end of the month to join the San Diego Padres.
