Marlins Blank Braves

Jose Fernandez pitched eight innings, struck out 14 batters and allowed no runs on three hits as the Miami Marlins shut out the Atlanta Braves 1-0 at Turner Field on Tuesday night. Fernandez improved his record this season to 3-1 as the Marlins won for the fourth time in their last five games. The Fish won their first road game this year after they lost their previous seven away games.
Miami(10-11) got the only run in the game during the fourth inning against Alex Wood. Giancarlo Stanton doubled to left field with one out. Casey McGehee then knocked in Stanton with a base hit into center field.
Wood, whose record dropped to 2-3, went eight innings for Atlanta(13-7) as he struck out 11 Marlins and gave up just one run on four hits. Steve Cishek picked up his 33rd consecutive save for the Fish as he finished the final inning.
