The Miami Heat faced a divisional opponent at American Airlines Arena on Wednesday night as they fell to the Atlanta Hawks 112-102. The Heat, who have lost three of their last four games, will now begin a long nine-day, five-game road trip.
Miami(9-9) were left behind early in the game and trailed 27-18 after one quarter. Atlanta(11-6) extended their margin up to 45-31 and then the Heat went on a 16-4 spurt to pull within two points. The Hawks scored the final six points of the quarter to lead 55-47 at halftime. Dwyane Wade dropped in ten points during the second quarter after no points in the first.
The Hawks stayed ahead as they led 88-72 after three quarters. Miami was able to cut the deficit down to ten points at 92-82 with 8:32 left and never got any closer.
Chris Bosh had a team-high 27 points and 11 rebounds in 38 minutes to compile a double-double for the Heat. Mario Chalmers put together a double-double with 19 points and 11 assists while Wade drained in 28 points with seven assists.
Jeff Teague had a team-high 27 points and six assists for Atlanta. Kyle Korver sunk 18 and Paul Millsap scored 14. Both of them shared a team-high six rebounds each.
