Miami Ratings December 2014

The Miami/Fort Lauderdale region remained the same for the 16th consecutive month as 104.3 The Ticket WAXY-FM was the top sports format radio station. It was not a good period for all three local stations as all of them dropped in their rating numbers.
The Ticket went from a 1.8 to a 1.6 in December as the station was purchased by Entercom Communications from Lincoln Financial Media during the middle of the ratings period. It seemed that the mediocre start of the season by the Miami Heat in the post LeBron James era has hurt the station.
Although they did not fall further behind from their top competitor, Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM was slightly down from a 1.0 to a 0.9 as they returned to their numbers from two months ago. CBS Corporation closed on their purchase of the station from Beasley Broadcasting at the start of the ratings period. The lackluster ending of the Miami Hurricanes football season did not help.
After two straight months of having an increase in their monthly ratings, Miami Sports 940 WINZ-AM fell from a 0.4 to a 0.3 in December. They still had better ratings this month than they had during their six months with Miami Marlins broadcasts. The audience saw the Miami Dolphins go from a playoff contender to being eliminated in a three-week span.
