The Miami Dolphins made a huge splash in the free agent market on Wednesday and signed defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. It is a six-year deal worth $114 million in which $60 million of the contract is guaranteed by the club. It's the largest contract ever signed by a defensive player in NFL history.
Suh was drafted in the first round and second overall in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. He was an First-Team All-Pro on four separate occasions in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014. Suh was also a Second-Team All-Pro in 2012. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014.
The Lions made two playoff appearances while he played there in 2011 and 2014. Suh had 36 sacks, 180 individual tackles, 66 tackles for loss, 98 quarterback hits and 128.5 knockdowns/hurries in 78 regular season games with Detroit. He has led all defensive tackles in these categories since 2010.
Suh spent his college career with the University of Nebraska where he was a 2009 Heisman Trophy finalist and finished fourth. He won the Outland Trophy, Chuck Bednarik Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Lombardi Award and Associated Press College Football Player of the Year Award in 2009.
