The Miami Heat made a huge splash at the 2015 NBA Draft in Brooklyn on Thursday night and selected Duke University shooting forward Justise Winslow in the first round as the tenth overall pick. Winslow recently helped the Blue Devils win their fourth national championship in school history earlier this year. It was a major surprise that he was passed by several clubs after being considered a top-six selection by most draft experts.
The Heat were in the unusual position of picking early in the NBA Draft for the first time since 2008. That was the last time that the franchise had failed to make a playoff appearance. The Heat chose University of Tennessee shooting guard Josh Richardson in the second round as the 40th overall pick.
