The Miami/Fort Lauderdale region for sports format radio stations was topped by 104.3 The Ticket WAXY-FM for the 21st consecutive month. It was a monthly period where all three competitors in the market remained stable.
104.3 The Ticket slightly dropped from a 1.6 to a 1.5 in May. It was the second straight month that they fell in the ratings. No play-by-play broadcasts of the Miami Heat did not help matters.
Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM stayed flat at a 1.1 and finished in second place while gaining ground. It has helped that the University of Miami Hurricanes baseball team has played well in the regular season. In addition, Ryan Maguire was named the new program director at WQAM during the ratings period.
Miami Sports 940 WINZ-AM remained the same for the fourth consecutive month with a 0.2 in May. It is general surprise considering that the Miami Marlins broadcasts were expected to bump the ratings up for the station.
