It was deja vu as the American Heritage Stallions lost to the Trinity Christian Conquerors 30-3 in the FHSAA Class 3A state championship game at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando on Saturday. The Stallions lost the state title game to the Conquerors last year and have now fallen in four of five championship matchups to the same school.
Trinity Christian(14-0) got the only score in the first half during the second quarter. The Stallions missed on a 24-yard field goal with 3:19 to go in the first half.
Early in third quarter, the Conquerors capitalized on a turnover as safety Chamarri Conner returned an interception 51 yards for a touchdown at 8:45 to make it 13-0.
American Heritage(10-3) scored their only points in the contest as Billy Mitchell connected on a field goal with 5:40 remaining in the third.
The Conquerors extended their lead as quarterback Billy Cobb found tight end DaVonte Porter for a 20-yard touchdown with 35 seconds left in the quarter.
Frankie Onate added a 46-yard field goal at 9:15 of the fourth quarter. They capped the victory when running back Jalin Buie rushed in from 25 yards away with 4:09 remaining in the game.
