Longtime Miami Herald sports columnist and sports editor Edwin Pope passed away on Thursday at the age of 88. He had the distinction of being one of the few media members to cover the first 47 Super Bowls. He received the Dick McCamm Memorial Award from the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002 for his reporting of the Miami Dolphins and the NFL.
Pope was known for writing with the Miami Herald for over 50 years. He covered the Miami Dolphins throughout their franchise history and wrote columns about different South Florida sports while working at that newspaper.
