The Florida Panthers had their four-game road winning streak snapped as they lost to the Calgary Flames 5-2 on Tuesday night at Scotiabank Saddledome. It was the first game of a four-game road trip for the Cats against Western Conference opponents.
The first period started fine for Florida(20-18-8) as they got out to a 2-1 lead. Vincent Trocheck scored two goals for the Panthers at 3:46 and 8:25 while former Panther Kris Versteeg added a goal for the Flames at 6:39.
Calgary(24-20-3) would dominate the second period. Mark Giordano put in a power-play goal at 4:25 and several minutes later was followed when Mikael Backlund scored two goals in a span of 16 seconds. Sean Monahan added an empty-net tally with 2:08 left in the third.
