Kings Knock Off Panthers

The Florida Panthers lost to the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 on Friday night at BB&T Center. The Panthers had their four-game winning streak snapped and begin a five-game road trip next week. It was the first game of a seven-game road swing for the Kings.
Florida(23-23-6) scored during their first power-play opportunity at 11:32 of the first period. Denis Malgin fired a wrist shot wide right of the cage and it bounced off the end wall. Aaron Ekblad put in a shot past Jonathan Quick from the left of the crease area for his 11th tally of the campaign.
In the second period, Los Angeles(30-19-5) evened it up at the 3:09 mark. Andy Andreoff was near the top of the zone and backhand a pass to his left. Nick Shore snapped a shot by Harri Sateri from the left circle for his fourth goal of the year.
The Kings got their first lead of the game with 3:57 left in the second. Derek Forbort carried the puck into the Panthers zone on the left wing and stopped. He sent a cross-ice pass to Jonny Brodzinski at the top right circle and he slapped in a high backhand shot to make it 2-1.
Los Angeles would increase their margin to 3-1 just 25 seconds into the third period. Alex Iafollo brought the puck into the Florida zone on the left side. He centered it and Anze Kopitar redirected the puck from the low slot for his team-leading 22nd goal of the season.
