The American Heritage Patriots challenge the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders at Brian Piccolo Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Friday night. It is a battle between two of the top private school high school football programs in Broward County. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
American Heritage(5-1) won their last two games versus Venice and Cardinal Gibbons, following a defeat against Trinity Christian Academy. They did start the season with victories over Chaminade-Madonna, Clearwater and Bartram Trail. Quarterback Vinson Davis III will lead the Patriots offense and hand the ball off to running backs Mark Fletcher and Jerry Dinkins. Wide receivers Orande Gadsden II, Michael Watkins III and Jacolby Spells can catch passes from Murphy.
St. Thomas Aquinas(2-1) bounced back with a 31-7 victory over DeLand in Central Florida last week. The Raiders won their season opener over TRU Prep Academy and fell to Cardinal Gibbons in the following contest. Quarterback Zion Turner is a dual threat that can run the ball out of the pocket and throw passes downfield. Wide receiver Bralon Brown will be the primary target for Turner on pass completions. Running back Anthony Hankerson intends to rush the ball past the line of scrimmage.
