The Miami Northwestern Bulls go south and challenge the Key West Conchs at Tommy Roberts Memorial Stadium on Friday night in a Class 5A play-in game. The winner will take on either American Heritage or Palm Bay next week.
Miami Northwestern(2-1) are the current Class 5A state champions and have won three consecutive FHSAA state titles. They topped local rival Miami Central, lost to IMG Academy and handled Miami Palmetto during the regular season. Quarterback Taron Dickson can connect passes to wide receiver Romello Brinson and tight end Khalil Brantley. Running back Zuberi Mobley and Siddiq Jackson will both get some carries from the backfield.
Key West(4-1) have outscored their last three opponents 146-15 this season. After splitting their first two games in 2020, they won their next three contests over Archbishop McCarthy, Surge Academy and Somerset Academy Silver Palms. The Conchs are loaded in the backfield with running backs Jason Jeudy, Preston Hence and Jeremiah Osbourne.
