Panthers Beat Predators

The Florida Panthers squeezed by the Nashville Predators 4-1 at Bridgestone Arena on Monday night. Florida snapped a four-game winless streak and have won six consecutive games on the road.
It was the Panthers only road game during a seven-game stretch. Panthers head coach Paul Maurice tied Barry Trotz for the second most games coached in NHL history with 1,812.
Neither team was able to score in the opening frame. Florida(28-14-4) took a 1-0 lead on the power play with 8:41 left in the second period. Sam Bennett won the faceoff in the left circle and Sam Reinhart collected his 34th goal of the season on a wrist shot from the top of the crease. Reinhart is now fourth all-time in Florida Panthers franchise history with 49.
Nashville(25-21-1) evened it up 1-1 with 7:44 to go in the second. Jeremy Lauzon placed in his fifth goal of the campaign with a wrist shot from the top of the zone.
In the third period, the Panthers moved ahead 2-1 at the 1:11 mark. Carter Verhaeghe chalked up his 24th goal this season on a snap shot from the high slot. Bennett added his second assist in the contest as he connected a long lead pass from his own zone.
Florida got two empty-net goals late in the third and led 4-1. Brandon Montour fired a shot from his own right circle for his second tally of the year with 1:39 remaining. Matthew Tkachuk scored his 13th goal of the season on a shot from the left point with 19.2 seconds left.
