The San Jose Sharks have named Bob Boughner as their new head coach and removed the interim title. He rejoined that organization for the 2019-20 season as an assistant coach. Boughner was elevated to interim head coach when Peter DeBoer, a former Florida Panthers head coach, was fired. Former Panthers players John Madden and Rocky Thompson were named to the new Sharks coaching staff.
Boughner had a two-year run as the head coach of the Florida Panthers. He ended up with an 80-62-22 record with the club and missed the playoffs in both seasons.
