The Florida Panthers have added more people to their hockey operations department. Their general manager Bill Zito was hired back on September 2 by Panthers owners Vincent Viola and Doug Cifu.
The team has named Rick Dudley and Paul Fenton as senior advisors to the general manager. Both have been in the National Hockey League in some capacity for over 20 years.
Dudley was the general manager of the Florida Panthers in 2002-03 and 2003-04. He had senior executive stints with the Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning, Chicago Blackhawks, Atlanta Thrashers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes. He was the senior vice president of hockey operations with the Hurricanes over the past two seasons.
Fenton was the assistant general manager of the Nashville Predators from 2006-07 until 2017-18. He also was a general manager of the Minnesota Wild in 2018-19 and a scout for the Columbus Blue Jackets last season.
The club also added Gregory Campbell as vice president of player personnel and development, Blake Geoffrion as assistant to the general manager and Paul Fenton Jr. as a scout. Campbell once played with the Panthers as a center from 2003-04 to 2009-10 and compiled 85 points in 363 games. He won a Stanley Cup title with the Boston Bruins in 2010-11.
Geoffrion, a Plantation native, is the grandson of Hockey Hall of Fame member Bernie Geoffrion and great-grandson of Howie Morenz. He once played in the NHL with the Nashville Predators and Montreal Canadiens from 2010-11 until 2011-12. He was with the Blue Jackets in hockey operations for the last seven seasons.
The Panthers announced that they will not retain Mike Kitchen as an assistant coach. He finished his second stint with the Florida Panthers and working alongside head coach Joel Quenneville. Their AHL assistant coach Doug Janik will not be joining their new affiliate in Charlotte after being in Springfield last season.
