The King's Academy Lions host the Cardinal Newman Crusaders on Friday night at Kahlert Stadium. Both teams have clashed against each other to make the FHSAA Class 3A playoffs for the past couple of years.
Cardinal Newman(0-1) did not play their home game last week against Benjamin because of a coronavirus situation with somebody in its football program. The Crusaders played their season opener at Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale and fell 19-0. They are led on offense by their rushing attack of running backs Domenico Fusco and Vinkevus Pierre. Quarterbacks Matthew Shannon and Joe Thomas will call the signals. Denzel Williams and Jason Lovingshimer are their wide receiver threats.
King's Academy(2-0) has been in two high-scoring contests to begin the 2020 season. They won their home opener over Lemon Bay 33-27 and then went to Glades Day for a 41-20 victory last week. The Lions offense has Will Pritchard at quarterback and Dominick Ratty as their primary running back. Pritchard has numerous targets that include Jonathan Joseph, Preston Martin, Sean Corrigan and Jackson Worley.
