Heat Lose Season Opener To Magic

The Miami Heat opened up their 2024-25 campaign with a 116-97 loss to the Orlando Magic at Kaseya Center on Wednesday night. It was the start of the Heat's 37Tth season in the National Basketball Association.
There was a halftime ceremony by the Miami Heat to name their home court as Pat Riley Court at Kaseya Center. The name of Pat Riley would remain on the playing surface even after the Heat move from that venue a very long time in the future.
Both clubs were tied 32-32 at the conclusion of the first quarter. Orlando(1-0) did have a slight 58-54 lead at halftime. Miami(0-1) was outscored 39-18 during the third quarter and trailed 97-72. The Magic stayed in front in the final quarter and not challenged for the lead.
Terry Rozier had a team-high 19 points along with six rebounds for the Heat. Nikola Jovic added 15 points while Tyler Herro pumped in 14 points. Bam Adebayo was held to nine points and five rebounds. Jimmy Butler finished with just three points, four rebounds and five assists. Paolo Banchero dropped in a game-high 33 points for Orlando.
