St. Thomas Aquinas Upset By American Heritage

The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders fell to the American Heritage Patriots 42-38 at Simmons Family Field in Fort Lauderdale on Friday night. It was a battle between two Broward County high school football powerhouses. Both teams concluded their regular seasons.
St. Thomas Aquinas(7-3) was defeated for the second time in the last three weeks. STA is off next week and will try to capture their sixth consecutive FHSAA state championship when they begin another playoff run beginning in two weeks. American Heritage(5-4) might have vaulted themselves into the FHSAA Playoffs with a victory over the Raiders.
The Patriots were able to get out to a 14-11 lead by the end of the first quarter and they had a 21-17 advantage at halftime. The Raiders leaped over their opponent and led 31-28 at the conclusion of the third quarter. The Pats outscored STA 14-7 during the final quarter and took a 42-38 lead.
