Pat Murphy Leaves WPEC-TV

    Longtime WPEC-TV Channel 12 sports director and sports anchor Pat Murphy will retire from television during the summer. He has been the lead sports anchor at the West Palm Beach station since 1995. Prior to that, he was sports director and sports anchor at longtime crosstown rival WPTV-TV Channel 5 from 1983 to 1995. While others have come and gone from the local market like Craig Minervini and Larry Smith, Murphy's reign of 29 years as a West Palm Beach sportscaster is right up there with Jim Gallagher, Buck Kinnaird and Marc Goldberg.
