The Miami Marlins began a short four-game road trip in Philadelphia with a 4-0 win over the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on Monday night. The Fish have won three of their last four road games. The Phillies extended their losing streak to three games.
Miami(38-38) got to Roberto Hernandez for two runs during the first inning. Derek Dietrich got a one-out single to left field then Giancarlo Stanton was hit by a pitch and went to first. Casey McGehee followed with a two-run double into deep center field.
In the ninth inning, the Marlins added two more runs to their lead. Reed Johnson popped a ball down the left-field line for a base hit to score Jeff Baker. Two batters later, Dietrich knocked in Ed Lucas from second on a one-out single into right field.
Nathan Eovaldi raised his record to 4-3 as he pitched 6 1/3 innings of shutout ball and allowed six hits. Hernandez dropped to 3-6 for Philadelphia(34-41) as he surrendered two runs on three hits in six innings.
