Andrew Heaney made his major league debut on the mound for the Miami Marlins as they were shut out by the New York Mets 1-0 on Thursday night at Marlins Park. Heaney went six innings and allowed one run on four hits for Miami(36-36). His counterpart Zack Wheeler threw a three-hit complete game for his first career shutout.
David Wright jumped on the rookie during the first inning with his sixth home run of the season to give New York(33-40) a 1-0 lead. He blasted a solo homer to center field on a 2-2 pitch.
