The Miami Marlins were able to shut out the Washington Nationals 2-0 on Saturday night at Marlins Park. It was the fourth straight series that the Fish had prevailed. Ichiro Suzuki had three hits as he tied Rogers Hornsby and Jake Beckley for 35th all-time with 2,930 hits.
Jose Fernandez became just the third pitcher since l9l4 to win his first l6 decisions at home. He went five innings, allowed no runs on two hits and struck out seven. It was the first time that he had pitched since August 7.
Miami(6l-8l) got out in front during the fourth inning against Tanner Roark. Christian Yelich led off with a double into deep left field and then Martin Prado walked. Both of them advanced one base when Justin Bour flew out to right. After Derek Dietrich was hit by a pitch to loaded the bases, J.T. Realmuto knocked in Yelich with a base hit to right.
In the fifth inning, Washington(7l-70) surrendered one more run. Yelich reached base as he grounded into a double play. Prado came up and singled to center then Bour drove in Yelich with a base hit to left-center field.
