The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Miami Marlins X-X at Marlins Park on Sunday. Marlins starting pitcher Jeff Brigham made his major league debut while Blue Jays pitcher Sean Reid-Foley went on the mound for his third major league start.
Toronto(62-74) was able to score in the first inning. Kendrys Morales lined a sacrifice fly to right field for Billy McKinney to score.
They added two runs in the top of the third. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a sacrifice fly to right which scored Morales. Aledmys Diaz followed with a sacrifice fly to center for Randall Grichuk to come home.
The Blue Jays made it a six-run margin in the fifth inning. Teoscar Hernandez socked a three-run homer to left field on a 1-2 pitch.
Miami(54-83) ended the shutout in the bottom of the fifth. The Marlins had the bases loaded and J.T. Riddle walked for Rafael Ortega to cross the plate.
