The Somerset Academy Pembroke Pines Panthers defeated the Somerset Academy Canyons Cougars 31-7 on Friday in Boynton Beach. Both institutions are sister schools of each other.
Somerset Academy Canyons(1-2) started off well as they scored on their third possession of the first quarter. Cougars running back A.J. Bates was able to race down the left sideline for a 13-yard touchdown with no time remaining in the first.
The second quarter would belong to Somerset Academy Pembroke Pines(2-1). They scored on a 32-yard run by running back Ahmad Fitchett as he broke several tackles down the right hash marks to reach the end zone at the 9:39 mark.
The Panthers took the lead with 4:43 left in the first half. Fitchett went around the right end and dashed through some tacklers on the right sideline to score from 30 yards out. They would score 19 unanswered points in the second half to put the game away.
