The Boca Raton Bobcats shut out the Spanish River Sharks 51-0 on Friday night. The Bobcats won the annual rivalry for the sixth consecutive time.
It was late in the first quarter when Boca Raton(3-1) scored at 3:20. Running back Stalens Demeus bounced up the middle and scored from three yards away.
Spanish River(0-4) quarterback Conner Tribby would fumble the ball at his 18-yard line with 49 second left in the first and it was recovered by linebacker Ashton Gillotte. Three plays later, Bobcats quarterback Michael Pratt rolled to right, threw a two-yard pass and found running back Davion Maxwell in the front of the end zone. They had a 14-0 lead just five seconds into the second quarter.
Boca Raton made it a 21-point margin on their next possession. Pratt fired a pass from 15 yards away and it was caught at the goal line by Maxwell at the 7:01 mark. The Bobcats scored on their next drive as Pratt sneaked through the middle from one yard out with 5:08 to go in the second.
The Sharks remained bottled in their own end on their next possession. On the third play of the drive, Tribby was tackled in his end zone for a safety by linebacker Conor Downes at 3:58 to make it 30-0.
The Bobcats got to the end zone one more time with 24 seconds left in the first half. Pratt rolled to his left and rifled a 44-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Brandon Holcomb.
They continued to dominate in the second half. Pratt rocketed a 41-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jared Moorer, a transfer from Spanish River, on the left sideline with 38 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Boca Raton added a two-yard touchdown run by running back Christian Figueroa at the 6:10 mark of the fourth quarter for a 51-0 lead.
