It is the neighborhood rivalry in northern Palm Beach County as the Palm Beach Gardens Gators head up four miles on Military Trail and face the Dwyer Panthers at Blum Stadium on Friday night. The Panthers have won the last nine meetings between both schools and pulled out a 33-25 victory over the Gators last year.
Palm Beach Gardens(3-1) started the season out strong as they got wins over John I. Leonard 40-6, Royal Palm Beach 44-7 and shut out Lake Worth 28-0. They took a setback last week as they lost a district game to Seminole Ridge 21-14 in overtime.
The Gators changed their offense this year as David Studstill is now their starting quarterback. He intends to connect passes to wide receivers Ja'varius Williams, Belden Smith, Andrew Wilson and Raphael Vasquez. They will give running back Antonio Outler most of their rushing attempts.
Dwyer(3-1) have put up at least 40 points in their three victories this season. They blanked Park Vista 40-0, lost to Atlantic 30-13, defeated Glades Central 41-14 and took Palm Beach Lakes 41-13.
The Panthers can go with many options at running back to move the ball with James Meeks, Bobby Armes, Ernest Blackshear, Cedric Tucker and Reggie Gadsen. Gio Richardson is at quarterback and can find wide receivers Tanner Franklin, Antavious Lane, Jamari Gaines, Nick Bingo and Nic Jennings down the field.
