Andy Slater joined 640 The Hurricane WMEN-AM on Monday as their mid-afternoon host. His program is on weekdays from 3PM to 5PM. He was recently at Miami Sports 940 WINZ-AM until this past July.
It is a return for Slater to his previous location as he had a long reign at 640 Sports. He first began as a weekend co-host in April 2008 one month after they flipped to a sports talk format. Slater was elevated to the afternoon co-host spot with "The Amigo" Larry Milian in late 2009. He became the evening host in January 2010 when Ed Kaplan was hired. Slater was promoted to the midday position in April 2011 when the New York Yankees Radio Network reemerged on the station.
He also co-hosted a Saturday midday show with Hank Goldberg during the football season from 2011 to 2013. Slater had his weekday program cut to two hours and shifted to the early afternoon shift when Dan Sileo arrived in August 2013. He regained the midday shift with an extra hour in November 2013 when Sileo was fired. Slater finally left WMEN in December 2013.
Slater, a Franklin Pierce Univeristy grad, moved closer to home in Miami as he joined WINZ at the start of 2014. He held the position as mid-afternoon host on that station from January 2014 until July 2018. Slater had a slew of guest co-hosts which included Troy Stradford, Uncle Luke Luther Campbell, Tommy Hutton, Sergeant Mark Wysocky, Marlins Man Laurence Leavy and Sid Rosenberg.
