Inter Miami CF Wins Leagues Cup

     Inter Miami CF captured the 2023 Leagues Cup with a 1-1 victory in penalty kicks over Nashville SC at GEODIS Park in Nashville on Saturday night. It was the first trophy won by Inter Miami CF in their four-season franchise history. Lionel Messi was given the Golden Boot for the Leagues Cup tournament. 

     Messi gave Inter Miami CF a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute. It was his 10th goal in seven games for the team. All the contests he was involved in so far for Inter Miami CF this year have been Leagues Cup games. In the second half, Fafa Picault evened it up 1-1 for Nashville SC during the 58th minute. 

     The contest was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time and headed into a penalty-kick shootout. Inter Miami CF finally put away Nashville SC during the 11th round.
