Padres Slam Marlins

The San Diego Padres bashed the Miami Marlins 6-2 on Monday night at Petco Park. The Marlins and the Padres both last played on Saturday due to Tropical Storm Hillary in California.
San Diego(60-66) moved out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Manny Machado hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Ha-Seong Kim crossed the plate.
It became 5-0 for the Padres in the bottom of the second. Kim smashed a grand-slam homer to left field on a 0-2 pitch for his 17th home run this season. Luis Campusano, Garrett Cooper and Trent Grisham scored in front of him on the play.
In the fifth inning, the Friars made it a six-run margin. Machado homered to left-center field on a 3-1 count for his 24th home run of the 2023 campaign.
Miami(64-62) cut the deficit to 6-2 in the top of the sixth. Josh Bell powered a solo home run to right field on a 2-2 pitch for his 18th homer this season. Four batters later, Jesus Sanchez knocked in Jake Burger on a ground-rule double down the left-field line.
