Michigan State March By Miami

The Michigan State Spartans handled the Miami Hurricanes 38-17 on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium. It was a rare appearance of a Big 10 team playing in a regular season game in South Florida.
After a scoreless first quarter, Michigan State(3-0) broke the ice at the 13:58 mark of the second. Matt Coughlin was able to kick a 23-yard field goal.
Miami(1-2) answered back on their next possession at 10:08 to go up 7-3. Quarterback D'Eriq King rolled out to his right and found wide receiver Charleston Rambo in the back of the end zone on a three-yard touchdown pass.
The Spartans reclaimed the lead 10-7 with 2:56 left in the second quarter. Quarterback Payton Thorne threw a seven-yard touchdown toss to running back Kenneth Walker III on the right side.
In the third quarter, it became 17-7 for Michigan State at 6:08. Wide receiver Jalen Nailor received a swing pass on the right side from Thorne and walked in from 11 yards out.
The Hurricanes stormed back and cut it to 17-14 with 3:53 remaining in the third. King connected a 14-yard touchdown strike to Rambo in the front of the end zone.
The Spartans expanded their lead to 24-14 at the 13:10 mark of the fourth quarter. Thorne fired a 10-yard pass to Jayden Reed on a crossing pattern in the middle of the end zone.
The Canes attempted a comeback later in the quarter. Former Champagnat Catholic kicker Andres Borregales nailed a 55-yard field goal for his career-high with 8:11 remaining.
Michigan State increased it to 31-17 with 4:12 to go. Nailor caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from Thorne. It was Thorne's fourth touchdown pass of the game. They added on another score for a 21-point margin when Reed took an end-around handoff to the left side from eight yards away with 2:32 left.
