Raiders Outduel Dolphins In Overtime

The Las Vegas Raiders survived the Miami Dolphins 31-28 in overtime at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday. The Raiders avenged a last-minute loss to the Dolphins in the same venue late last season.
The Dolphins lost their second straight game. The Raiders remained undefeated during the 2021 regular season.
Miami(1-2) raced out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter. Linebacker Elandon Roberts intercepted a pass and returned it 85 yards for a pick-six at 6:34. Running back Malcolm Brown went through the left side of the line and scored from 24 yards away with 3:07 left. The Raiders picked up a safety when wide receiver Jaylen Waddle was tackled in the end zone following a swing pass to the left side with 32 seconds to go in the first.
Las Vegas(3-0) chipped at the lead during the second quarter. Daniel Carlson kicked a 50-yard field goal at the 11:36 mark. Fullback Alec Ingold received a one-yard toss from quarterback Derek Carr for a touchdown and they trailed 14-12 with 1:56 left in the first half.
The Raiders took a 19-14 lead at 7:17 of the third quarter. Carr connected a 12-yard pass to wide receiver Hunter Renfrow in the end zone.
They extended the lead to 25-14 early in the fourth. Running back Peyton Barber leaped over a pile of players in the middle of the field at the 13:47 mark.
The Dolphins pulled off a comeback for the remainder of regulation time. Jason Sanders nailed a 46-yard field goal with 8:30 left. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett scrambled out of the pocket and scored from one yard out with two seconds left. Brissett found wide receiver Will Fuller in the end zone to get the two-point conversion and to tie it 25-25.
It was unusual to see three scores happen during the overtime period. Las Vegas got the first opportunity in overtime as Carlson booted a 38-yard field goal at the 6:27 mark. Miami(1-2) responded with a 50-yard field goal by Sanders with 2:49 to tie the game again 28-28. The Raiders answered back as Carlson kicked a short 22-yard field goal with no time remaining in overtime.
