Marlins Swing By A's

The Miami Marlins returned home for a two-game series and beat the Oakland A's 8-1 on Tuesday night at Marlins Park. The Fish had lost their previous two games in Pittsburgh.
Oakland(27-37) got their only run in a strange way during the second inning. The A's loaded the bases and had starting pitcher Jharel Cotton come to bat for his first Major League Baseball plate appearance. Jose Urena had a 1-2 count and committed a balk for Yonder Alonso to score.
Miami(28-35) was able to tie the contest 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth. Marcell Ozuna smashed a solo homer to right-center field for his 16th home run of the season.
The Marlins put together five consecutive hits and four runs in the fifth inning. Dee Gordon hit a line-drive base hit to shallow left center and Tyler Moore scored. Giancarlo Stanton followed and he walloped a towering home run to left-center field on a 1-0 pitch. It was his 17th homer of the year. J.T, Realmuto later added a ground-rule double over the right-center field fence to score Christian Yelich.
In the seventh inning, the Fish added three more runs to make it 8-1. Derek Dietrich grounded into a fielder's choice with the bases loaded for Stanton to cross the plate. Moore then belted a double to deep left field which scored Ozuna and Dietrich.
