The Miami Marlins have traded shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria to the Tampa Bay Rays for minor league outfielder Braxton Lee and pitcher Ethan Clark. Lee has played for Double-A Montgomery in the Southern League for the past two years. Clark was with Bowling Green in Single-A during 2017.
Hechavarria was acquired by the Marlins in the huge 12-player trade with the Toronto Blue Jays that involved Jose Reyes and Mark Buerhle in November 2012. He played with Miami for the past five seasons. His best year at the plate was in 2015 when he had a .281 batting average with five home runs and 48 runs batted in. Hechavarria played just 20 games with the Fish in 2017.
