Pirates Get By Marlins

Marlins starting pitcher Jeff Locke faced his former team for the first time as the Miami Marlins lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-1 at PNC Park on Sunday. The Marlins finished their seven-game road trip with a 3-4 record.
Pittsburgh(28-35) attacked during the first inning with three consecutive hits and moved out to a 2-0 lead. Elias Diaz capped it as he doubled to left-center field which scored Jose Osuna and David Freese.
The Pirates extended their margin to 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Jordy Mercer knocked in Diaz with a base hit to right.
After putting together just two hits in the first seven innings, Miami(27-35) broke the shutout in the eighth inning. Ichiro Suzuki ripped a solo home run to right-center field on a 2-1 pitch for his second homer of the season.
