Braves Break From Marlins

The Atlanta Braves pulled away from the Miami Marlins 9-2 at Marlins Park on Thursday night. The Fish, who began a seven-game homestand, have now lost four consecutive games. Atlanta stayed in first place in the National League East.
The Braves had a 1-0 lead after two innings. Jose Bautista grounded out for Nick Markakis to score.
Miami(13-24) tied the contest in the bottom of the fifth. Martin Prado singled into right field and Lewis Brinson scored.
In the sixth inning, Atlanta(22-14) blew the game open with seven runs. Ozzie Albies smashed a grand-slam homer to right field on a 1-1 count. Ender Inciarte, Johan Carmago and Preston Tucker all scored on the play to make it 5-1. Two batters later, Freddie Freeman hit a two-run home run to right field on the first pitch. Inciarte would get another at-bat in the frame and knocked in Markakis with a ground-rule double to right.
Both clubs scored in the ninth inning. Albies got a base hit into right field to bring in Camargo for the Bravos. Brinson added a solo home run for the Fish over the left-field fence on a 0-1 count.
