Monarch Cuts Down Suncoast

The Monarch Knights swept their way to a second straight two-quarter victory on Wednesday night as they beat the Suncoast Chargers 14-8. The Knights defeated the spring football jamboree host Santaluces in the prior game.
It was late in the first quarter when somebody got on the scoreboard. Monarch linebacker Bobby McLaughlin picked off a pass and returned it 22 yards with 1:53 to go.
The Knights extended the gap to 14-0 at the 7:18 mark of the second quarter. Quarterback Zachary D'Amico found wide receiver Brady Brauner in the middle of the field for a 13-yard touchdown.
Suncoast stayed in the contest with 3:19 left. Wing back Aaron Adams dashed around the left end and down the sideline for a 75-yard touchdown score. They added another two points on the conversion run.
