Kings Academy Dominates Everglades Prep

     The King Academy Lions easily defeated the Everglades Prep Panthers 42-12 at Kahlert Stadium on Friday night. Everglades Prep made the long trip from Homestead to West Palm Beach for the spring football game.
     Kings Academy was able to score on their first two possessions of the first contest. Quarterback Justin Wake connected a 37-yard touchdown pass up the middle to Drew Luchey at the 9:14 mark of the first quarter. Wake threw an 18-yard pass to wide receiver Cory Corteau on the right side of the end zone at 4:58 to make it 14-0.
     The Panthers started a drive deep in their territory late in the second quarter. A bad snap went over the quarterback and it was recovered in the end zone by Corteau for a touchdown with 2:20 remaining.
     The Lions would get the ball again on a three-and-out by the Panthers. They scored on a third-down play when Wake found wide receiver Jeremiah Scroggins all alone on the left sideline with no defenders near him as he walked into the end zone with a 61-yard touchdown reception with 52.3 seconds to go in the first half.
     TKA got the ball first in the third quarter and they struck quickly to make it a 35-point cushion. Wake released the ball deep down the left sideline, Croteau was able to get under it and sprinted in for a 61-yard strike at 10:35.
     The Everglades Prep offense finally showed some life on their next drive when wide receiver Kevon Holmes caught a 58-yard pass in the middle and took it to the Lions 12-yard line. Three plays later, quarterback David Jeter faked a handoff, ran a bootleg to the left side and scored from five yards away at the 5:52 mark.
     The Lions brought in their reserve players in for the fourth quarter, which had a running clock. D.J. Alexandre rushed through the right side of the line and reached the end zone from five yards out with 8:40 remaining in the contest.
     Everglades Prep would got into the end zone once more before time expired. Jeter delayed then ran up the middle for a touchdown with 3:38 left.
