The Coral Springs Colts overwhelmed the Spanish River Sharks 47-7 on Monday in Boca Raton. The game had been postponed on two occasions last week.
Coral Springs scored on their first possession two minutes into the contest. Quarterback De'Andre Johnson connected a 13-yard pass to wide receiver Chris Hill Jr. on the left hash marks. Two plays into the Sharks next drive, they intercepted a pass and returned it for a 27-yard score at the 9:10 mark for a 13-0 lead.
The Colts capped the first quarter with another touchdown on their second offensive possession. Wide receiver Cam'ron Bell caught a deflected seven-yard pass on the right side of the end zone from Johnson with three minutes remaining.
In the second quarter, running back Michael Jarrett raced down the right hash marks for a 67-yard touchdown run at 8:30. Coral Springs increased their margin to 33 points when backup quarterback Mason Hamze went around the right end on an option and scored from 50 yards away with 6:30 to go.
Spanish River finally generated a good drive and broke the shutout with 39 seconds left in the first half. Quarterback Connor Tribby rolled out to his left, made a spinning move and tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Blake Goldberg on the left edge of the end zone.
The second half would have Coral Springs put in another 14 points. It included a one-yard run by another backup quarterback Frank-David Kosilla through the right side of the line from the shotgun position.
