The Miami Marlins were defeated by the San Francisco Giants 6-3 on Tuesday night at AT&T Park. The Fish have lost two of their last three contests while the Giants have won three of their last six.
In the first inning, San Francisco(36-38) moved out to a 1-0 lead. Buster Posey nailed a solo home run to left-center field on the first pitch.
The Giants added three more runs during the bottom of the second. Alen Hanson led off with a double to deep right field. Gorkys Hernandez followed with a two-run homer to left on a 1-0 count. Five batters later, Brandon Belt walked with the bases loaded for Joe Panik to score.
Miami(29-45) began to chop at the lead in the fourth inning with three runs. J.T. Riddle ripped a triple to the right-center gap as Starlin Castro and Miguel Rojas scored. Brian Anderson later sprayed a double down the right-field line for Riddle to cross the plate and make it 4-3.
San Francisco extended their margin in the fifth. Hanson knocked in Pablo Sandoval with a double to the warning track in right-center field. Hernandez dropped a base hit to shallow center field to bring home Mac Williamson.
