Marlins Almost No-Hit By Padres

     Clayton Richard pitched a no-hitter for 6-2/3 innings as the San Diego Padres toppled the Miami Marlins 3-1 at Marlins Park on Sunday. It concluded the Marlins 25th anniversary celebration this weekend. The Marlins have lost nine of their last 12 games.
     San Diego(31-36) got on the scoreboard first during the top of the second. Freddy Galvis hit a sacrifice fly to center field for Hunter Renfroe to score.
     The Padres extended their lead to 3-0 in the sixth inning. American Heritage grad Eric Hosmer blasted a two-run homer to left-center field on a 3-2 pitch. Travis Jankowski scored in front of him on the play.
     Miami(23-42) got a tally in the bottom of the seventh inning. Miguel Rojas broke out the no-hitter with two outs as he singled into center. J.T. Riddle later knocked in Lewis Brinson with a base hit to right field.
