The San Francisco Giants were dropped by the Miami Marlins 5-4 at Marlins Park on Wednesday night. The Marlins complete their seven-game home stand tomorrow and have been victorious in five of their last eight games.
San Francisco(33-35) jumped on the Fish in the first inning. After Buster Posey laced a double off the wall in right-center, Andrew McCutchen bashed a two-run homer to center field on the first pitch. It was his seventh home run of the season with his new team.
Miami(26-42) tied the contest 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth. Cameron Maybin singled into left-center field to bring in Brian Anderson. Two batters later, Lewis Brinson get an infield single up the middle for J.T. Realmuto to score.
In the sixth inning, the Giants regained the lead. Austin Jackson connected on a base hit to center as Brandon Crawford crossed the plate.
The Marlins evened it up in the bottom of the frame. Justin Bour muscled a one-out single to short center field and Realmuto scored.
There would be another lead change in the top of the seventh. Evan Longoria lifted a base hit into center field with two outs that scored Buster Posey.
The Fish again tied it in the bottom of the eighth. Bour came up with two out and walloped a double to the right-center field warning track and drove in Anderson on the play to make it 4-4.
Miami put together a rally to load the bases in the ninth inning. Anderson hit a sacrifice fly to center field and Miguel Rojas scored the game-winning run from third.
