The Miami Marlins were defeated by the Cleveland Indians 7-4 on Tuesday night at Marlins Park. Both clubs met each other in Cleveland last week for two contests.
Miami(8-21) scored in the first inning. Brian Anderson singled into left field for Martin Prado to score.
It was a quick response by Cleveland(16-12) in the top of the second. Carlos Santana blasted a solo home run to right-center field on a 2-2 pitch for his third homer of the year. Jake Bauers later hit a sacrifice fly to left which brought in Carlos Gonzalez for a 2-1 lead.
The Marlins moved in front in the bottom of the frame. Sandy Alcantara performed a sacrifice bunt to third and Miguel Rojas crossed the plate. Prado would knock in Isaac Galloway with a base hit into left field.
The Tribe compiled four runs in the third inning for a 6-3 gap. Santana lined a single to center and Francisco Lindor scored. Gonzalez followed with a three-run homer over the right-center field fence on a 1-0 count.
The Fish added one run during the bottom of the fourth. Curtis Granderson powered a solo homer to right field on a 1-0 pitch for his fourth home run of the season.
Cleveland extended their lead in the eighth inning. Bauers scored on a sacrifice fly to center field by Mike Freeman.

Johnnie Dixon And Te'von Coney Enter NFL
Two former Palm Beach County high school football players signed as undrafted free agents and will head into the National Football League. They are wide receiver Johnnie Dixon and linebacker Te'von Coney.
Dixon was with the Dwyer Panthers while in high school and helped the school capture the 2013 FHSAA Class 7A state championship. He played five seasons with the Ohio State University Buckeyes, participated on three Big 10 championship teams and won the 2014 CFP National Championship over Oregon. He compiled 67 catches for 1,146 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns with the Buckeyes. Dixon will be joining the Houston Texans.
Coney attended Palm Beach Gardens and contributed to the Gators success on the field. He went on to the University of Notre Dame and helped the school reach the 2018 CFP national semifinal game against the eventual national champion Clemson. Coney signed a contract with the Oakland Raiders.

Phillies Take Down Marilns
The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Miami Marlins 5-1 on Sunday at Citizens Bank Park. It was the final game of a four-game series between both teams.
Philadelphia(16-12) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Rhys Hoskins doubled into left-center field which brought in Bryce Harper.
In the third inning, the Phillies extended their margin to 3-0. Jean Segura knocked in Andrew McCutchen with a triple to the wall in right field. Harper came out next, ground to short and Segura crossed the plate.
Miami(8-20) compiled their only run in the contest during the top of the fourth. Martin Prado scored from third on an infield single by Miguel Rojas.
It became a three-run gap for the Phils again in the bottom of the sixth. There was a wild pitch and Segura scored on the play. The same thing happened in the eight inning when McCutchen raced home on a wild pitch.

More Locals Go In 2019 NFL Draft
More former South Florida high school football players were picked in the 2019 NFL Draft on Saturday. It was the final day of three days of selections held in Nashville.
The fourth round had University of Miami safety Sheldrick Redwine taken by the Cleveland Browns. He played high school football with Miami Killian.
University of Georgia wide receiver Riley Ridley was selected by the Chicago Bears. He is the brother of Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley and helped the Deerfield Beach Bucks win several district titles while in high school.
The fifth round saw former Miami Norland linebacker Vosean Leonard chosen by the Buffalo Bills. He played college football at the University of Florida.
Former St. Thomas Aquinas running back Jordan Scarlett will play for the Carolina Panthers after playing four seasons with the Florida Gators. He led the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders to two FHSAA Class 7A state championships in 2012 and 2014.

Miami Dolphins Acquire Josh Rosen
The Miami Dolphins acquired quarterback Josh Rosen from the Arizona Cardinals on Friday. The Fins gave up a 2019 second-round pick and a 2020 fifth-round pick.
Rosen played his rookie season with the Cardinals and was selected as the 10th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He made 217 pass completions for 2,278 yards and 11 touchdowns last year.

Buffalo Bills Select Devin Singletary
The Buffalo Bills selected Florida Atlantic University running back Devin Singletary in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft in Nashville on Friday night. He was the first person selected from Palm Beach County.
Singletary played three seasons for the FAU Owls and helped the team win the Conference USA Championship in 2017. He attended and participated in high school football as a running back and defensive back for the American Heritage Stallions. They made the FHSAA Class 3A state title game two consecutive seasons and lost to Trinity Christian in 2014 and 2015.

The Philadelphia Phillies stopped the Miami Marlins 4-0 at Citizens Bank Park on Friday night. The Marlins were held scoreless for the seventh time this season. The game was delayed for 90 minutes due to rain prior to the contest.

Raiders Get Trayvon Mullen
The Oakland Raiders selected cornerback Trayvon Mullen in the second round with the 40th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft in Nashville on Friday night. Mullen played on two CFP national champions with the Clemson University Tigers in 2016 and 2018. He played high school football with the Coconut Creek Cougars.
His cousin quarterback Lamar Jackson was drafted last year as the final pick of the first round by the Baltimore Ravens. His brother Tiawan Mullen also attended Coconut Creek and will play as a defensive back with Indiana University this fall.

The Dan Le Batard And Friends Podcast Network launched the Mystery Crate podcast on Friday. It joins several podcasts that have been introduced by that organization over the past five months.

The Miami Dolphins picked defensive lineman Christian Wilkins with the 13th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft on Thursday night. It was the first of three days of the NFL Draft which is being held in Nashville.

Locals Selected In NFL Draft First Round
Several former local high school football players were selected during the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The draft began on Thursday night and was held in Nashville, Tennessee.
Nick Bosa was chosen with the second overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers. He was with the Ohio State University Buckeyes as a defensive lineman for the past three seasons. Bosa played high school football with the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders. He helped STA win three FHSAA Class 7A state championships in 2012, 2014 and 2015.
Devin Bush Jr. was taken by the Pittsburgh Steelers as the 10th overall selection. He played the past three seasons with the University of Michigan Wolverines. Bush captured a FHSAA Class 8A state title with the Flanagan Falcons in 2015.

Indians Defeat Marlins
The Cleveland Indians got by the Miami Marlins 6-2 on Wednesday at Progressive Field. It was the second game of a two-game series between both clubs. They will meet again next week in Miami.
The Indians jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Jose Ramirez blasted a solo home run to right field on the first pitch.

Marlins Stop Indians
The Miami Marlins played their first interleague game of the season and held off the Cleveland Indians 3-1 at Progressive Field on Tuesday night. The Fish have won three of their last four games. The Indians only compiled three hits in the contest.

Mark Richt Joins ACC Network
Former University of Miami Hurricanes football head coach Mark Richt has joined the ACC Network as a studio analyst. ESPN will launch the ACC Network in August.
Richt, a Boca Raton high school and University of Miami grad, recently left his position as the head coach of the Canes after three seasons. He had a 23-16 record and led the team to the 2017 ACC Coastal Division title.
He had a long 15-year reign with the University of Georgia Bulldogs. He was able to compile a 145-51 record with six SEC Eastern Division titles and two SEC Championship titles.

Nationals Avoid Sweep To Marlins
The Washington Nationals got a 5-0 shutout victory over the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park on Sunday. Miami(6-16) was held to just two hits in the game. The Marlins finished a stretch where they opened the 2019 season with 16 home contests in the first 22.
In the fourth inning, Washington(10-10) made it 1-0. Ryan Zimmerman powered a solo home run to left field on a full count. The Nats got another run in the sixth inning when Howie Kendrick hit a sacrifice fly to center field and Adam Eaton crossed the plate.
The Nationals increased the lead to 3-0 during the top of the seventh. Brian Dozier knocked a homer over the left-field wall on a 1-1 count. Washington starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg left the contest after eight innings after he allowed only two hits and struck out 11 batters.

Steve Diener Gets WMEN Afternoon Show
Steve Diener recently added duties at 640 The Hurricane WMEN-AM earlier this month. He is now the weekday afternoon host on the station from 5PM to 6:30PM following Andy Slater and leads into the New York Yankees Radio Network. Sal Licata did a similar show on 640 Sports from April 2013 to August 2013.
Diener has been at that station for several years. He was originally a producer and co-hosted a weekend professional wrestling program with DJ Flash. Diener continues as a website writer and sports anchor.
He became a mid-afternoon weekday sidekick of Kevin's Other Show headed by Kevin Rolston in February 2018. The program left the schedule in September 2018, returned one month later as a Monday afternoon show and lasted until the end of December 2018. Diener co-hosted the Out Of Bounds podcast with Ricky Bobby from January 2019 until late March 2019.

The West Palm Beach ratings were revealed for sports format radio stations in the market. ESPN 106.3 WUUB-FM does not subscribe and are not listed.

Miami Dolphins 2019 Schedule
The Miami Dolphins along with the other 31 NFL clubs saw their 2019 regular season schedules. The National Football League released this information on Wednesday.
The Dolphins host their first two games of the season. They face South Florida native and the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 followed by the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots and Tom Brady in Week 2. The Fins visit the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3, return home and take on the defending NFC champion Los Angeles Rams in Week 4 and then have a bye.
They host the Washington Redskins in Week 6 followed by road games against the Buffalo Bills in Week 7 and the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 8. The Fins host the New York Jets in Week 9.
Miami will interchange road and home contests over the next four weeks from Week 10 to Week 13. It includes at the Indianapolis Colts, home versus Buffalo. at the Cleveland Browns and at home against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cubs Blank Marlins Again
The Chicago Cubs swept the Miami Marlins with a 6-0 win at Marlins Park on Wednesday night. The Marlins, who have lost 13 of their last 15 games, were shut out for the second straight game and outscored 17-2 in the three-game series with the Cubs.
Chicago(8-9) got in front 1-0 in the second inning. Daniel Descalso knocked in Wilson Contreras with a base hit into left field.
The Cubs piled on four runs in the top of the third to make it 5-0. Javier Baez singled into right field for Kris Bryant to score. Jason Heyward came up next and drove in Baez with a single to left field. Descalso hurt the Fish again on a double to deep left field that had Heyward and Contreras cross the plate.

J.T. Wilcox Joins 1210 The Man
Local sports journalist J.T. Wilcox has joined 1210 The Man WNMA-AM. He is announcing sports updates at that station.
Wilcox had covered high school sports for the Miami Herald and the Miami Sports Tribune. He began at SFHS Sports as an operations assistant and writer on their website in August 2012 alongside Larry Blustein. Wilcox stayed in that position for over five years.
Wilcox hosted The Baldcast podcast from early 2017 until February 2019. He co-founded the Miami Sports Tribune in August 2007 and the business lasted until 2010 when he moved on to other job opportunities. The organization was rebooted by him in December 2017 and it ended operations in February 2019.

Sileo had several stints in the state of Florida prior to his arrival in California. He was a late morning host on WFXJ-AM in Jacksonville. Sileo moved to Orlando and hosted morning programs on WQTM-AM, WFLF-AM and WYGM-AM. He then had a long reign as a morning host on WDAE-AM in Tampa.
He landed in South Florida as an afternoon host on Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM in April 2012. Sileo added duties as a postgame football studio analyst for the University of Miami Hurricanes Radio Network during the 2012 season and he was later shifted to the midday shift. He did handle middays on 640 Sports WMEN-AM for several months in late 2013.

Cubs Shut Out Marlins
The Chicago Cubs blanked the Miami Marlins 4-0 on Tuesday night at Marlins Park. The Fish continued their losing ways and fell for the 12th time in the last 14 games.
Chicago(7-9) picked up the first run of the contest during the third inning. Daniel Descalso drove in David Bote with a base hit into right field.
In the fourth inning, the Cubs extended it to 2-0. They had the bases loaded and then Bote grounded out to short for Javier Baez to score.
Miami(4-14) gave up two more runs in the final two innings. Baez smashed a solo home run to center field on a 0-1 pitch in the top of the eighth. Ben Zobrist hit a sacrifice fly to right in the ninth inning to score Dote.

Cubs Smash Marlins
The Chicago Cubs downed the Miami Marlins 7-2 at Marlins Park on Monday night. The Marlins have lost in 11 of their last 13 games. The Cubs began a short three-game road trip.
In the first inning, Chicago(6-9) compiled three runs to go out with the early lead. They had the bases loaded then Wilson Contreras walked to score Kris Bryant. David Bote followed with a double through the left side into left field which scored Javier Baez and Jason Heyward.
Miami(4-13) was able to make it 3-1 in the bottom of the second. Chad Wallach scored on a fielder's choice by Trevor Richards. Wallach hit his first home run of the season in the fourth inning to left field on the first pitch.

Phillies Take Marlins In Extra Innings
The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Miami Marlins 3-1 in 14 innings at Marlins Park on Sunday. The Marlins have fallen in 10 of their last 12 games.
Philadelphia(9-5) moved out to a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. Cesar Hernandez smacked a solo home run to right field on a 0-2 count.

Marlins Pay Back Phillies
The Miami Marlins stopped a five-game losing streak with a 10-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday night at Marlins Park. The Phillies blasted the Marlins 9-1 in the previous game.
In the second inning, Miami(4-11) put up two runs. Austin Dean singled into center field for Miguel Rojas to score. Lewis Brinson followed with a double to left field which scored Dean.
The Marlins compiled four more runs in the bottom of the third for a 6-0 lead. They got back-to-back solo home runs by Brian Anderson and Neil Walker. After a Rojas base hit, Dean bashed a two-run homer to left-center field on the first pitch.
The Fish made it a seven-run gap in the fifth inning. Starlin Castro scored on a sacrifice fly by Rojas to center field.

Phillies Stomp Marlins
The Miami Marlins returned home for a nine-game home stand and were slammed by the Philadelphia Phillies 9-1 at Marlins Park on Friday night. Bryce Harper made his first appearance in Miami with his new team. The Marlins have lost nine of their last 10 games.
Philadelphia(8-4) loaded the bases with none out in the first inning. They unfortunately did not score during that frame.
They waited until the fifth inning where they tacked on five runs. Harper knocked in Andrew McCutchen with a base hit into right-center field. Rhys Hoskins came up next and doubled to deep left field and Jean Segura scored. Former Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto followed with a single to right field and Harper crossed the plate. Odubel Herrera then hit a double into the right-center field gap that scored Hoskins and Realmuto.
It became a six-run margin for the Phillies in the sixth inning. Realmuto was able to score on a base hit by Cesar Hernandez into right field.

Caron Butler Returns To Fox Sports Radio
Former Miami Heat player Caron Butler will be returning to Fox Sports Radio. Butler will co-host a Saturday afternoon show with Jonas Knox beginning after the NBA Finals in June until the opening of NFL training camps in late July. He will continue as a rotating host on SiriusXM Radio NBA Radio channel for the early afternoon program No Look Pass.
Butler joined Fox Sports Radio for his first stint in March 2018 as a Sunday midday co-host with Chris Mannix. He held the post until just before the start of the NFL season.
He was drafted by the Miami Heat in the 2002 NBA Draft as the 10th overall pick. He played the first two seasons with the Heat and included participating with Dwyane Wade during his rookie season. Butler was traded along with Lamar Odom, Brian Grant for Shaquille O'Neal after the 2003-04 season. He later was with the Dallas Mavericks when they defeated Miami in the 2011 NBA Finals, even though he was on the injured list.

Reds Sweep Marlins
The Cincinnati Reds swept the Miami Marlins with a 5-0 shutout victory on Thursday at Great American Ball Park. The Reds had two shutouts in the last three games against the Fish and outscored them 21-1 in the three-game series. The Marlins have lost eight of their last nine games and finished 1-5 on the road trip.
Cincinnati(4-8) scooted out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Eugenio Suarez singled into left field for Jesse Winker to score.
The Reds added three more run during the fifth inning. Joey Votto knocked in Curt Casali with a base hit to left-center field. Yasiel Puig followed with a two-run double to deep left field which scored Winker and Votto.

Dwyane Wade Plays Final Game
Dwyane Wade played in his final NBA game on Wednesday night as the Miami Heat were handled by the Brooklyn Nets 113-94 at Barclays Center. Wade finished off a 16-season career that included 15 years with Miami. The Heat were eliminated from playoff contention on the previous night.
Brooklyn(42-20) moved ahead 32-23 at the end of the one quarter and held a 63-47 lead at halftime. Wade passed Elgin Baylor for 29th all-time in points during the early minutes of the third quarter. Miami(39-43) were unable to stay on pace and trailed 92-71 after three quarters. The Heat did score the first eight points of the final quarter.
Wade finished his last game with a triple-double of 25 points, 10 assists and 11 rebounds for Miami. It was his fifth career triple-double performance and his first since February 4, 2011 at Charlotte. Panthers Stay In Same NHL Draft Position
The National Hockey League held their draft lottery on Tuesday night. The Florida Panthers did not move up and remained with the 13th overall pick for the 2019 NHL Draft. The draft will be held on June 21 and June 22 in Vancouver.
Three teams did improve their positions in the first round of the NHL Draft. The New Jersey Devils moved up to first overall from third, the New York Rangers rose from sixth to second and the Chicago Blackhawks jumped from 12th to third. The Colorado Avalanche, with the Ottawa Senators selection, fell from first overall to fourth and the Los Angeles Kings slipped from second to fifth.

Reds Bulldoze Marlins
The Cincinnati Reds dominated the Miami Marlins 14-0 on Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park. The Marlins have lost six of their last seven games. It was just the second win for the Reds this season.
Cincinnati(2-8) got in front 1-0 in the first inning. Eugenio Suarez drove in Joey Votto with a single into center field. The Reds made it 2-0 during the bottom of the third on a Scott Schebler base hit to right which scored Matt Kemp.
They added two more runs in the fourth. Jesse Winker smacked his first home run of the season to left field on a 3-1 pitch. Tucker Barnhart scored in front of him on the play.
The Red Legs pull away in the bottom of the sixth inning as they compiled seven runs. Winker knocked in Jose Peraza and Barnhart with a single into right field.

The Heat held a ten-minute ceremony honoring Wade prior to the contest. The Detroit Pistons won their game tonight and eliminated the Miami Heat from playoff contention.
Wade made his first start of the season and made the first basket in the game for Miami(39-42) just 13 seconds in. The Heat stretched their lead out to 34-20 after one quarter. They controlled the first half and led 61-42 by halftime.

Heat Waive Rodney McGruder
The Miami Heat waived forward Rodney McGruder on Sunday. He has played the last three seasons with the Heat.
McGruder started in 65 of 78 games back in 2016-17 and averaged 6.4 points per game. He played in 66 games this season and averaged a career-high 7.6 points per game.

Dolphins Sign Ricardo Louis
The Miami Dolphins have signed wide receiver Ricardo Louis to a one-year contract. He was with the Cleveland Browns and did not play last season with them due to a neck injury.
Louis joined the Browns in 2016. He made 45 catches for 562 yards in two seasons with that club.
Florida Panthers Hire Joel Quenneville
The Florida Panthers announced on Monday that they have hired Joel Quenneville as the new head coach of the club. He is the 16th head coach in Florida Panthers franchise history. Panthers general manager Dale Tallon named Quenneville the Chicago Blackhawks head coach back in October 2008 when he was the Blackhawks general manager.
Quenneville guided the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cup titles in 2010, 2013 and 2015. He is one of only 11 people to coach three Stanley Cup champions. He was let go by that team last season on November 6, 2018. Quenneville is second all-time in NHL history with 890 regular season coaching wins and 1,636 regular season games coached. He previously coached the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche prior to his arrival in Chicago.

Marlins Defeated By Braves
The Miami Marlins fell to the Atlanta Braves 4-3 on Sunday at SunTrust Park. The Marlins head for Cincinnati and play on Tuesday. The Braves have won four of their last five games.
In the first inning, Atlanta(5-4) struck early to take the lead against Marlins starting pitcher Caleb Smith. Ozzie Albies got on base with a leadoff single to left. Two batters later, Freddie Freeman blasted a two-run homer to left-center field on a 0-1 pitch.
It was a fast response by Miami(3-7) and they tied it 2-2 in the second inning facing Braves starting pitcher Sean Newcomb. The Fish had the bases loaded when Smith got an infield single for Starlin Castro to score. Miguel Rojas followed with a walk and Lewis Brinson crossed the plate.
The Braves pulled ahead again in the bottom of the fifth. Dansby Swanson belted a solo home run to center field on a 1-1 count.

Orioles Sign Dan Straily
The Baltimore Orioles have signed free agent pitcher Dan Straily to a contract. He was released by the Miami Marlins back on March 25.
Straily played the past two seasons with the Marlins. He started more games in majors two years ago with 33 starts on the mound and had a 10-9 record. His performance dropped in 2018 as he went 5-6 with a 4.12 ERA in 23 games.

Panthers Lose To Devils In Season Finale
The Florida Panthers wrapped up their 25th season in the National Hockey League and lost to the New Jersey Devils 4-3 in overtime at BB&T Center on Saturday night. Aleksander Barkov broke a Florida Panthers club record as he got his 95th point of the season during the contest. Pavel Bure had the team record with 94 points back in 1999-2000.
New Jersey(31-41-10) moved out to a 1-0 lead at the 1:27n mark of the first period. Will Butcher sent a lead pass from the left point to Nico Hischer in the left circle. His cross-ice pass went through the slot and Nathan Bastian pounded a one-time shot by Roberto Luongo.
In the second period, the Devils made it 2-0 at 7:41. Egor Yakovlev slapped a shot from the low left circle and Bastian redirected it from the top of the crease for his second goal of the contest. Blake Coleman picked up the secondary assist.

Timberwolves Outscore Heat
The Minnesota Timberwolves got by the Miami Heat 111-109 on Friday night. The Heat stand one game behind the Brooklyn Nets and Detroit Pistons for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot.
Minnesota(36-43) had a 36-35 edge after one quarter. Miami(38-41) climbed back and led 69-61 at halftime. The Heat were ahead 91-90 at the end three quarters, but the Timberwolves picked it up in the final two minutes of the contest.
Dwyane Wade had a game-high 24 points for Miami and Dion Waiters put in 22 points. Goran Dragic fell short of a double-double with 15 points and nine assists. Dario Saric led Minnesota with 19 points while Andrew Wiggins added 18 points.

Islanders Slip By Panthers
The Florida Panthers fell short in a shootout to the New York Islanders 2-1 at BB&T Center on Thursday night. The Panthers will finish their season at home on Saturday against the New Jersey Devils. The Islanders travel up to Washington D.C. to face the defending Stanley Cup champion Capitals.
After a scoreless first period, New York(47-27-7) struck at 1:50 of the second. Josh Bailey stole the puck at the left point and pushed it ahead. Michael Dal Colle sent a cross-ice pass from the left circle to the right circle. Brock Nelson followed with one-time slap shot by Sam Montembeault for his 25th goal of the season and a 1-0 lead.

Celtics Knock Off Heat
The Boston Celtics dropped the Miami Heat 112-102 at American Airlines Arena on Wednesday night. The Heat fell behind the Orlando Magic for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The New York Mets swept the Miami Marlins with a 6-4 victory at Marlins Park on Wednesday night. The Marlins have Thursday off then play a three-game series at Atlanta against the Braves. The Mets have their home opener on Thursday versus the Washington Nationals.
FNF Florida Magazine Cuts Back
FNF Friday Night Football Florida high school football magazine has decided to stop producing a yearly preview publication for high school football throughout the state of Florida. They will instead concentrate on just high school football programs in the Tampa area.
They have published an annual Florida high school football preview since 2009. Mets Jump On Marlins
The New York Mets toppled the Miami Marlins 6-5 on Tuesday night at Marlins Park. The Marlins will finish their seven-game home stand on Wednesday.
New York(4-1) rocketed out with a five-run first inning. Wilson Ramos lined a base hit up the middle with the bases loaded to score Brandon Nimmo. Dominic Smith followed with an RBI-single to center field which scored Jeff McNeil. Amed Rosario came up next and doubled into left field for Michael Conforto and Ramos to cross the plate. It became 5-0 when Smith scored on a fielder's choice to second by Juan Lagares.
Miami(2-4) answered back quickly in the bottom of the first. Brian Anderson ripped a double to left field and Curtis Granderson scored on the play.
In the fifth inning, the Fish slowly closed the gap to 5-2. Starlin Castro smashed a solo homer to center field on the first pitch for his second home run of the season.
The Mets made it a four-run margin during the top of the seventh. Nimmo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Ramos was able to score.
The Marlins responded with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Lewis Brinson knocked in J.T. Riddle with a base hit into left field. Peter O'Brien then singled to left which brought in Jorge Alfaro.

Nick Bosa On NFL Draft Magazine Covers
Former St. Thomas Aquinas defensive lineman Nick Bosa appears on the magazine cover of three of the top sports magazine publications for the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft. He played the last three seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Bosa is expected to the one of the top selections of the NFL Draft on April 25. He appeared on the front cover of Athlon Sports, Lindy's Sports and Pro Football Weekly. Bosa helped the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders capture three FHSAA Class 7A state championships in 2012, 2014 and 2015.

WEEI Adds Dan Sileo
WEEI-FM in Boston has added former University of Miami Hurricanes defensive lineman Dan Sileo as a Saturday afternoon host. He will continue as the morning host on 97.3 The Fan KWFN-FM in San Diego.
Sileo had made several stops hosting a sports show in the state of Florida. He was a late morning host at WFXJ-AM in Jacksonville. Sileo moved on to Orlando where he hosted morning programs at WQTM-AM, WFLF-AM and WYGM-AM. He then had a long reign as a morning sports host at WDAE-AM in Tampa.
He landed in South Florida as a afternoon host at Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM in April 2012. Sileo added duties as a University of Miami Hurricanes Radio Network postgame studio analyst for the 2012 season and later was moved from the midday shift to afternoon drive at that station. He joined 640 Sports WMEN-AM as a midday host for a couple of months in late 2013.

Celtics Ease By Heat
The Boston Celtics got by the Miami Heat 110-105 at TD Garden on Monday night. The Heat remain in the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference while the C's are third in the Atlantic Division.
Boston(46-32) blasted out to a 36-17 lead after one quarter and stayed ahead 61-47 at halftime. Miami(38-39) almost cut the deficit down to single digits and trailed 88-77 after three quarters. The Heat barely made a dent into the margin during the fourth quarter.
Goran Dragic had a team-high 30 points while Dwyane Wade contributed 17 points for Miami. Bam Adebayo put together a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Kyrie Irving got a game-high 25 points and eight assists for the Celtics. Al Horford and Jayson Tatum both added 19 points each.

Marlins Lose To Mets
The Miami Marlins lost to the New York Mets 7-3 on Monday night at Marlins Park. The Marlins played their fifth game of a seven-game home stand.
Miami(2-3) got in front 2-0 during the bottom of the first. Miguel Rojas led off and got on base after striking out and reaching first base on a passed ball. Three batters later, Starlin Castro lifted a two-run homer to left field on a 2-2 pitch from Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz. It was the first home run of the season for Castro.

Capitals Surprised By Panthers
The Florida Panthers hosted the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals and outmuscled them 5-3 at BB&T Center on Monday night. The Panthers were able to sweep the three-game season series against the Caps for the first time ever. It was the final road game of the season for the Capitals who remain in first place inside the Metropolitan Division.
Florida(36-32-12) moved in front 1-0 with 6:12 left in the first period. Colton Scviour kicked the puck from the left side of the crease to the low slot. Frank Vatrano put in a wrist shot by Phoenix Copley for his 24th goal of the season.
The Cats expanded their lead to 2-0 at the 3:34 mark. The Capitals swept the puck away from their crease area and Jonathan Huberdeau snapped a shot from the low slot for his 28th goal of the campaign.

Antwan Staley Leaves Orioles Beat
Former local sportswriter Antwan Staley has left his position as the Baltimore Orioles beat reporter for MLB.com. He had started the job back in February.
