Dodgers Avoid Sweep To Marlins

The Los Angeles Dodgers avoided a four-game series sweep with a 6-1 victory over the Miami Marlins on Thursday at loanDepot park. The Marlins were unable to pull off a four-game sweep of the Dodgers for the first time since 2016. The Marlins won the season series against the World Series champion Dodgers 4-3.
Miami(38-49) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Jazz Chisholm Jr. led off with a solo home run to right-center field on a 2-0 pitch for his 10th homer of the year.
In the fourth inning, Los Angeles(54-34) tied it up 1-1. Chris Taylor lined a base hit up the middle for Matt Beaty to reach home.
The Dodgers piled on five runs in top of fifth and moved ahead 6-1. Beatty knocked in Julio Urias with a single through the right side. Two batters later, Will Smith hit a sacrifice fly to the warning track in center field and Mooke Betts scored. Taylor followed with a double off the third-base bag to score Max Muncy. After a Gavin Lux walk to load the bases, Zach McKinstry drove in Beaty and Taylor on a fielding error by Chisholm.
