Marlins Snap Dodgers

The Miami Marlins knocked off the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4 at loanDepot park on Monday night. The defeat snapped the Dodgers nine-game winning streak. It was the beginning of a four-game series between both clubs.
Los Angeles(53-32) broke out to a 2-0 lead during the top of the third. Chris Taylor doubled to deep right field and Walker Buehler crossed the plate. Two batters later, Justin Turner knocked in Taylor on a single into center field.
Miami(36-47) bounced with three runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 3-2 lead. Garrett Cooper singled through the right side for Starling Marte to reach home. After Cooper stole his first career stolen base, he scored on a base hit by Miguel Rojas to right. Adam Duvall would later score on a throwing error by second baseman Zach McKinstry.
The Fish made it 4-2 in the fourth inning. Jazz Chisholm Jr. drove in Joe Panik with a base hit into center field.
The Dodgers chalked up two runs in the top of the eighth and evened it up 4-4. Gavin Lux walked with the bases loaded and Matt Beaty scored. Cody Bellinger came up next as a pinch-hitter. He hit a sacrifice fly to the warning track in right-center field for Will Smith to score.
The Marlins pulled ahead 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth. Jorge Alfaro lifted a solo home run to left-center field on a 1-2 pitch. It was Alfaro's first homer since June 5 and third home run of the 2021 season.
